I don’t see how the team can trust him again having cost us so dearly.
I guess it's a difficult thing for the outfield players to understand, when outfield players make bad mistakes the others often console them, I guess because they understand those mistakes. It tends to be keepers who console one another as I guess they understand more and although they are all competing with one another they must all be fairly close as the GKs will spend so much time training together.
But I agree they all probably blame him (and he will know it) it's a long and difficult way back if he is to prove himself to his team mates again, I think whatever the plan was before this game we need to be bringing in a new GK in the summer, because this will definitely have a negative effect on him. He basically has to rebuild his career from here. The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

I don’t see that.Originally posted by topscorer View PostRead that none of the Liverpool players went to console him. Disappointed if that's true
Put yourselves in their position, the emotion, the work, the effort, and he blew it for them. How could they with a straight face go and give him a hug and tell him it’s ok? They would be distraught also. They are human. The hurt he caused would be incredibly fresh.
Some of the squaddies and coaches went to him it’s fine.
The rest of the first XI must have (justifiably) felt like punching him in the face, and did well to not.Modifying post.
