I've been concussed with a gash in the side of my head and I was trying to persuade the ambulance to give me a lift home rather than take me to the hospital.

This is PR from the club, otherwise why is the US doctor breaching patient confidentiality by telling the whole world about Karius' medical condition?

We have received numerous calls today regarding the health status of Liverpool goalkeeper Loris Karius. With Mr. Karius’s permission, we are providing information about his medical situation in an effort to prevent, where possible, the dissemination of incomplete or erroneous information.

Let me clarify, nothing can be said or done now that will makes things an easier for him during the course of the season IMO ... he's going to get a pasting from every opposition fan. When he goes to catch ball to any error he makes they will be all over it. The guys mentality was questionable before the final, christ knows what this will do to him now.. make or break.

He obviously gave permission for the information to be released to the media. I honestly don't think it will make a difference whatsoever, it's done, it happened & he has a rough ride ahead of him.

They apparently declined to comment on the initial statement, they've got nothing on their website regarding it so I'm just not convinced of that in the slightest. Agree with this, at very least he needs a season on loan in mid-table Bundesliga obscurity and even that may be too hot for him if things don't goto plan from the get go.

That is basically the definition of PR - influencing what is said about you from an external source to impact opinion/position of brand/organisation opposed to shouting it out yourself. So if the club were behind it in a PR capacity, you probably wouldn't self promote.

It's been made public, obviously with Karius' permission, because it's publicity i.e. PR.

If it wasn't PR - why make it public? He's seen a doctor, he's got concussion apparently, treat it, job done. No need to involve the media...

This is not just a go at Karius but a general overview of any player, manager etc.. who makes mistakes / underperforms

When someone comes under scutiny from fans and makes a further mistake (such as Karius has) it is virtually impossible to turn the tide round

Even if he has 6 months where he is faultless or brilliant the next time he makes a mistake it will be seized on by the doubters and he will be given pelters

For me its going to be very difficult for him to resurrect his career at LFC

I'd be amazed if he was doing this without the club's approval.
