He was very talkative, interesting interview. Cheers. He didn't know what league they were in

Was it a bloke from Fleetwood interviewing him? He sounded a bit miffed when he told him League 1.

Klopp sounded surprised at the performance when he said "Tiago Ilori...... not bad" like he expected him to suck

For what its worth I think Randall has grown because his first performances for us were horrendous. However I don't really think either are good enough, would love to be proven wrong though, we need local lads.

            Randall Offers More Than Flanagan

FLEETWOOD, ENGLAND - Wednesday, July 13, 2016: Liverpool's Connor Randall in action against Fleetwood Town during a friendly match at Highbury Stadium. (Pic by David Rawcliffe/Propaganda)

If one player has gone under the radar more than anyone in the two pre-season games so far, it’s Jon Flanagan.

The 23-year-old was barely noticed at right-back against Tranmere, and he was equally unspectacular in the trip to Fleetwood.

A lack of attacking threat was slightly alarming, especially when you consider how dominant the Reds were in both, and he left the pitch at half-time having done very little of note—though defensively he was strong, it must be stressed.

It gives a potential excuse for Markovic’s forgettable showing, with Flanagan rarely getting forward to help him down the right flank.

Connor Randall was introduced for the second half, and while the right-back is far from a world-beater, he did far more than his more experienced team-mate.

Supporting Kent, the 20-year-old overlapped a number of times, and even came close to adding his name to the scoresheet on a few occasions.

This season is a huge one for Flanagan, as he looks to prove to Klopp that he is fully fit after severe knee injury problems.

The early evidence is that he doesn’t look a much better option than Randall, although it is tough to judge this early in the summer—we need to see more from him.

I think he knew they were in the 3rd tier, but was confused by the formatting of the leagues.

A lot of obvious impressive attacking performances, but have to say I was impressed with Wisdom again. Looked commanding at the back, was good on the ball and read the game well (for the little he had to do).

I'll obviously not read too much into performances against such inferior sides, but with the injury to Sakho, I hope he makes the American tour to see how he does against some decent sides in his natural position.

Definitely think the shaved head helped, just like Kent's a much better player now that he doesn't look like he's in New Kid's on the Block.

Thought Flanagan looked much better this game. Looked woefully off the pace first match, although I'm hopeful that's still a consequence of his recent injuries and he'll get that sharpness back. Problem is, with his style of play, if he isn't fully fit then a lot of the crunching tackles he loves ends up dangerous or unnecessary fouls, which we can't afford in proper matches. Then if we can't risk playing him, it's impossible to get that match fitness back.

Randall was very good first game though and didn't do much wrong last night either.

Mate, its just not something you can seriously judge at this stage.

Flanagan is coming into preseason off the back of a serious injury, Klopp talked time and again about how poor his recovery rate is in relation to the rest of the squad because of this. Its reasonable to suggest that as such he's still playing catch up and struggles more with intense sessions followed by games.

In competitive games we've seen more from Flanagan than Randall. I don't think Flanagan is good enough long term, but at this stage when both are fully fit, it'd be Flanno that started if we needed a RB to cover Clyne in a big game.

Randall may very well go on and become a better player, I know the lad personally so I have absolutely nothing against him, in fact you couldn't wish for a better pro. However to suggest he's ahead of Flanagan is strange to me.

Maybe at the end of Preseason if Flanagan is still struggling then he'd fall down the pecking order purely because he isn't up to scratch in time for the new season.

Is this post in response to me or the twitter comments from SB?

I just posted my observations from both matches and never once said Randall is ahead of Flanagan. I've always been a big fan of Flanagan and am hoping he can get back to full fitness.

Yeah Wisdom has looked good against the inferior opposition & I agree that I'd like to see more of him before we give up on him.

As I said earlier I'm not a big fan of Flanno's as I find him very beige & always have done. Randall on the other hand is promising to say the least. It may be too early to make the call but it's my opinion at present & it may change at any given time.
