We started 433 with Henderson anchoring, which was surprising. Lallana dropped deep and played ahead of him with Wijnaldum.Originally posted by redmike65 View PostAnyone fancy giving a full match report? Who was good, bad or indifferent and the overall formation/tactical approach etc
Milan were pretty poor, so hard to read too much into it, but for me TAA and Klavan did quite well in the first half.
Looked better second half playing 4231 with Randall and Stewart sitting and Origi picked up where he finished last season looking extremely sharp.Last edited by RedReet; 31-07-16, 11:45 AM.If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

I think we will use both formations this season. 4231 suits firmino and Origi, 433 suits Sturridge, mane and Coutinho.
I can see the 433 working really well if we put Coutinho in the middle 3, with wijnaldum and mane as the attacking wide players and Sturridge or Firmino as the front man who drops in deep. This way both mane and wijnaldum can offer those runs breaking the lines which we just didn't have last season.
Its nice to have options to be able to change players and formations in-game. Its very different Liverpool this year.[B]Sir Isaac Newton knew the universal law of karma - any action has its equal and opposite reaction.[B]

Just watched the recorded highlights and Wijunaldum and Firmino's bloodhound anticipation for a goal is encouraging. Firmino still giving the ball away in the worst possible places though as Niang should have scored that header.
Everyone looks sharp and ready, much unlike Arsenal's team. One tit for another.

We'll have to see how Origi and Sturridge do in the remaining games, as given their quality, it'll be interesting to see who stands out the most.
The thing with Origi, is that he doesn't drop deep anywhere near as much as Sturridge. He moves into channels, but does occupy central spaces far more, which would suit Coutinho, Firmino, and Mane big time, whereas Sturridge drops deep far more, often occupying their spaces.
