Just wondering if people think that Hendo and Milner are guaranteed starters for us? The reason I say that is, that's as our captain and vice captain, surely they should be banker starters.

I'm just wondering if Klopp will rock the boat and replace Hendo as captain in general?

Think Henderson will start against Arsenal, but think both are far from guaranteed starters. Don’t think the captaincy plays any part in his decision (and rightly so), players are picked on merit.

Can, Clyne and Firmino are perhaps the closest thing we have to guaranteed starters at the minute IMO, with the likes of Mane and Coutinho close behind them. Obviously other players like Mig, Moreno, Lovren are guaranteed at the minute due to injuries, but I think with a fully fit squad that only Can, Clyne and Firmino would be confident of playing almost every week.


Oh, don't think he'll change capatain either, regardless of his playing plans for Henderson.

I think it will be very interesting to see the team that plays against Arsenal on the opening weekend. And then see how that line up compares against the team that plays the last game of the season (or that plays most throughout the season)

So while I agree with you that I think that Henderson will start against Arsenal, it wouldn't surprise me at all if by the end of the season Grujic and Emre Can are our first choice midfield pairing in the centre of the park, with a trio of something like Mane, Coutinho and Firmino all behind Origi.

Same with the defense - with the exception of Clyne, it is very hard to predict the other 3.

Although I don't think we have as strong a starting 11 as when we nearly won the league a couple of years ago, this is certainly the strongest squad we have had since Rafa's time. And that is a credit to Klopp. If he has been able to do that after less than a season, then hopefully in 2 years time we will be cooking on gas in a big way.

I can't see him changing the captaincy either, it would be a real confidence blow for Hendo.... especically only getting back from such an injury prone season. I just thought that you would consider your captain to be a leader and a guaranteed starter, not sure Hendo is either. IMO it would be a wee bit strange to have a captain that is isn't a guaranteed in the first 11, surely that doesn't happen often anywhere?

I honestly don't have the slightest clue who will play or what way we'll set up. IMO at the moment Mig, Clyne, Moreno, Lovren, Mane & Can are bankers to start. You would think that the likes of Sturridge, Coutinho & Firmino who IMO are our most talented players would be a banker to start too. How the team will set up is a mystery to me at the moment.

Don't think it's that uncommon. Plenty of captains get too old to play every week, but keep their captaincy despite being barely used subs.

I say plenty, but the only one I can think of is Terry (under Rafa) and obviously he got his place back.

IMO any captain (apart from a few old vets/legends) has to be a banker starter. What kind of message does it send to the other player that their captain and leader can't even get his game regularly.

Is someone going to start a prediction thread? I can't wait for this, it's always a good attacking game. They'll come at us which will suit us perfectly, there will be goals (watch it be a boring nil-nil now).

I'm expecting us to go for the title this season, I genuinely believe we can do it.

Personally if he hasn't trained them I wouldn't risk him, get him fully fit in case he make it worse! Added to that we have Bobby, Danny and Div Original who can play up front!
