I really don't rate Arsenal or Spurs as highly as some people seem too. We can beat anyone on our day, so why everyone seems to think we should be coming away from The Emirates and WHL with 1 or 2 points baffles me. We definitely shouldn't be losing to Burnely, but it happens, hence my 5-6 points from every 3 games. You need to maintain that form to finish where we want to.
It's less about interpreting your post, and more about interpreting how you extrapolate from that tiny sample.

You say it's bad using points per games without regard for what those actual fixtures were, but the point is there is a slightly more valid (but also rather poor) way of looking at it that doesn't make it look so bad.

Be honest now brothers and sisters, biasness aside. Had Spurs scored the goal that we had disallowed, what would've been your reaction? I agree with Carra in that it could have gone either way. That's not why we drew today. We drew because once again we switch off defensively and can't keep a clean sheet. Oh yes, and Coutinho just has to score there

It's been a satisfactory start to the season. We simply have to beat Leicester in two weeks time imo.

If our next two games see us beat Leicester at Anfield and not lose to Chelsea away, then it will be a pretty solid start given who we will have played, especially the away games.

Today's game was a slight let down at the final whistle as I thought we played well enough to get a win, but looking at the result again after a few hours it is nothing to be ashamed of as it was against a bloody good team, and team that presses hard and that is well organized. Plus it was with us still having a number of players not starting.

If we can cut the Burnley style performances to a minimum, then what we currently have (despite many of us thinking we are short in a few positions) is good enough to put it up to any team in the league.
I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.

So? Doesn't mean he didn't know what was needed - he got pretty ****ing close in difficult circumstances.

Looking at it without bias I think that the disallowed goal should have stood. This is my reasoning: having seen the replay it seems that TV can't really tell with any degree of certainty whether it was on or offside, even when they stop play and draw lines on the pitch, given that the linesman has to give the benefit of any doubt to the attacking side and level is onside, I don't see how the linesman can have seen it as offside in real time given that it is almost impossible to tell in slow-motion. All he can have done is guessed which makes it a poor decision.

Given the way that the rules are laid out you should never see goals wrongly ruled out for offside, only goals allowed to stand that were offside, because of this benefit of the doubt. If the linesman doesn't see it as offside he can't give it as offside and the goal should stand, with the one today he can't have seen it as offside so the goal should stand.

The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

I can't believe that it's 2016 and the governing bodies of football don't allow video replays for just this sort of thing.

Can anyone shed any light on why we didn't get a penalty when Vertonghen pulled Matip to the ground? It seemed the ref stoppled play and actually gave Vertonghen a a warning about it - watching the game, it seemed absolute bonkers but the sky commentary team thought it was a penalty but nothing was mentioned much after it.

While we're on the sky commentary team - when did Danny Murphy become such a total bellend?

I thought the ref had a total stinker today, apart from the penalty he did give us.

That potential pen has definitely been glossed over.

Spud has talked parp for as long as I can remember, although today was definitely particularly stinky. He seems to rely on a combination of obsolete instincts and making **** up. Like when he said Granit Xhaka was 'not the type to get at you'

Still got to love him for the graft he put in for us, and those goals vs Utd.

The ball wasn't in play so you can't give a pen.

                              Correct decision obviously.

                                Good point.

Apparently the guideline is warn player if ball out of play, caution if it continues with pen/free as well as caution if ball is in play.
