It's the defensive **** ups which have stopped this from being an exceptional season so far.
I'd argue it has been an exceptional season so far - I think how well Chelsea have been doing has detracted from how well we've been doing.

2nd in the league at Christmas and in the semi-final of the League Cup - I'll take that...for now!

Thats possession of the ball its not dominating the midfield

They are two very different points

But you can't control the midfield with 30% odd possession. It's not possible.
          Oh I don't know.

Tell that to Bournemouth or West Ham

Hahaha you think Bournemouth controlled midfield? Dear god.

The later Rodgers sides had huge amounts of possession but do you honestly think they dominated teams?

Its not about having the ball you cretin, its about what you do without it in midfield

Our biggest failure in dominating the midfield area is competing for 2nd balls

We dont win nearly enough of those and if we dont place enough pressure on the ball initially you have to compete for second balls

Its very interesting to note that Klopp himself has been critical of our failure to control teams in the midfield area in terms of pressing and competing for 2nd balls (West Ham & Bournemouth)

                  Maybe hes talking crap also

You've picked two games out how many this season? It's not even close to a trend.

Bournemouth barely got a touch in the first half. Second half they properly were on it and had more possession than we did from what I remember.

West Ham, I have no recollection of that game. They controlled the midfield with min possession? I'll have to take your word for it.
                    Oh I don't know.

Oh and we definitely need a holding player

Not every game but I think we need it more often than you or others think

I didn't even mention the ball. You are really rattled today. Do you need a ladder down that hole?

Again dominating the midfield isnt solely about possession

Its about suppressing the opposition and or competing for possession

That is where our failings are more often than not

I would also add that there have been other games in which we have won that we havent dominated the midfield

                            I've not argued otherwise.

The defensive half of the team needs to improve. That said,up until a couple of weeks ago, we'd conceded fewest number of shots in the league. Trouble was so many went in.
                            Oh I don't know.

Yeah Klopp needs a hand up from that hole

“We had not a real formation for protection in these moments, nearly everybody was involved in our offensive situations and we had two centre-backs and sometimes Hendo (Jordan Henderson) behind the ball, and nearly everybody else the other side.

“We had a problem with second balls, but not too often. The goals (we conceded) weren't in situations like that.

“But we let the game go a little bit away in these moments, we were not completely in control like we could have been.”
