Yeah frustrating result but I've got no issues with the team picked. We had to rest our senior players, we've given games to squad players who need it and with Gomez completing 90 mins is another bonus. We all know we haven't got great strength in depth but until we sign a few more players we need to rotate when we can

We didn't do quite enough in an attacking sense....I'd like to have seen a few more players just having a pop at goal every now and then.....it's a pain we have to play a reply but I'm not too upset with the game...

Positives - Gomez back, taa and woodburn looking promising
Negatives - showed the lack of quality cover we have and we now have a pain in the arse replay

I never stated we had too many players

The squad is thin and that has meant a reliance on kids who ain't good enough

I wasn't upset with those that left but we should have bought more than we did I have been saying that from the first day of the season

We are chronically short in fullback positions. We also don't have enough defensive midfield players imo

Watching us today you realise how important a player Jordan Henderson is, loads of our play starts with him, he moves the ball accurately and fast. Without him we lack the ability to change the direction of attack at pace. Backup for him is surely a priority.
        I

I would also argue it shows how important the fullback positions are (Milner and Clyne)

Long term I would hope for Arnold to be back up but we definitely need a better back up on the left

        Moreno is horrendous

          Ummm

The squad is pretty thin but then we don't have Europe this season.

I agree about the fullbacks that's an issue especially with any injuries to either Milner or Clyne as Moreno isn't up to it and playing TAA for any extended period would be a risk.

We don't really play with an out and out DM we play with high energy players that can get around the pitch but who can also dictate the play for us hence Lucas very rarely gets a run out in midfield these days as he just doesn't have the legs for how we want to play

I still think we need a dedicated holding player

There's times we don't win enough second balls and a decent holding player should enable us to do that

I want to state I like the system generally but it at times it needs the protection of a holding player

Winning second balls can be massively important in modern football

I think the problem here is that Henderson is playing that role, or playing in that space at least. Personally I think he's doing really well there, so any specialist holding player is probably playing second fiddle to the captain. Which narrows down the type of player we can attract. Agreed that Stewart doesn't look good enough long term to be a semi regularly, although I thought he had an ok game today - one of the brighter ones.

Our U23 team just proved that they are at least as good as a top L2 team, common opinion here believes that if PA had tried to play then our team would have probably won.

Whilst taking on board they should have created more clear cut chances, we didn't exactly rip them apart once the subs were on. I think Origi was probably not the right man to lead the line with all the youngsters but as Sturridge is made of paper it was understandable.

Our youngsters certainly weren't threatened and looked comfortable for the most part.

TAA and Woodburn are probably on the verge of spending a lot more time with the first team. Gomez was a big plus and I'd not be surprised to see him start a few more games in Jan and Feb.

I didn't see all of the match, the most frustrating thing about the game is that we have another game to fit in. From what I saw we did well enough we just lacked a cutting edge, despite finishing the game with some strong attacking options on the pitch.

I think that the some of the critisism of the kids is a little harsh, I feel you need to judge them when they are playing with a close to full strength side rather than a cobbled together one. The kids need game time in those circumstances, I don't expect them to be top players but if they can come in and do a reliable enough job in the odd PL game I would be happy with that, if your youth system can give you squad players it frees up cash to buy top quality players for the first team.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

As people have already said the only silver lining of an 'easy' replay is that Gomez, Karius, TAA, etc, all get another free 90 minute run-out. I hope Klopp gives zero fecks to the replay too.

The reaction has been a bit OTT for me! We weren't great by any means but you'd think we had beaten the way a lot of our fan base has reacted.

The reaction that Plymouth have just held the mighty Liverpool is fair but again they have played against our under 23 side in the main for the majority of the game. Let's not act like they've just held off our first side for most of the game.

We have a semi final and a trip to Utd this week. Priorities.

Play the kids again at their place.

What a cluster**** of a footballer he is. He was one of the senior players out there and did sweet **** all in terms of helping the team.

In the 97th minute, we got a corner. Firmino was over about to take it and AM wanders over pulling rank on set pieces. What a cock. 25 corners or whatever and not one of them any way decent. Dick head

I doubt he was pulling rank, we must have instructions for how to organise ourself from corners.

I didn't watch the game and don't really care about it tbh. Bit annoying having to play again but stick the kids out again, if we win then great, if we don't then whatevs.

Getting back into the Champions League is still the priority for me. A good cup run is a bonus. Thankfully, we've got the EFL Cup to focus on. Getting to the final of that would show we can offer players a shot at silverware.
