Gutting but would have taken draw before the game. Considering the team we had out it was great point. Mig was our MOTM imo, I thought after a difficult 20 mins Lovren was magnificent. Coutinho was very good when he came on too. After that i'm struggling. Wini worked so hard but his shooting is absolutely woeful. Lads worked really hard & it was a scrappy game.... take that point.

At least we didn't lose. That would have killed us. We slowed their momentum. I just think we put so much in closing them down, we were found lacking when we had the ball. I thought matey in the middle, the Dutch lad played really well until he got near the goal. He should stay behind in training putting the practice in.

TAA got some flak in the match thread but that was an unfair start for the kid and I thought he wasn't too bad. It was always going to be a hard game for him. But the kid clearly has a good career ahead of him (hopefully with us).

Stats for Newcastle are **** if you take out that 1 game against Norwich (and 1 against us when we were playing a 1-1-8 formation. Before that we are looking at the Dutch league.

Utd proved once again that referees don't like booking them or letting a simple thing like offside get in the way of the result.
That aside, positives in Henderson and Coutinho coming back and looking match fit, makes Firmino play much better having Couts on the pitch. Also good to see new young talent given a chance, like TAA - he did ok and better in second half.
Negatives being Can and Klavan both looking poor today. Klavan bottling and mistiming tackles. Can is so slow and ponderous he slows up counter-attacks and gave the ball away endlessly. Same as Origi - wasteful in possession today.
Would have taken a point beforehand with the team line-up, would have hated Rooney to score the goal that surpasses Charlton's record... Need to get some momentum for the rest of the season, Matip and Mane are big misses and we need to struggle on without them and pick up some three pointers...
