Hull City [A] Build up thread

A must win game against **** opposition. What could possibly go wrong?

Hull have sold 2 of their best players and not replied them. Surely their crowd will not let them sit back all game as the home team?

We also have the opportunity to put our strongest XI out, which though I'd be tempted to do I would make one change.

    --------------Mignolet------------
    Clyne----Matip---Lovren-----Milner
    --Wijnaldum---Henderson---Lallana--
    -----Mane---Origi---Coutinho--

Firmino has not been in great form recently, I think we could do with some additional pace with Mane and Origi.

    Its 3pm on a Saturday
    Modifying post.

Think this one is on Sky Sports for Irish viewers.

Desperately disappointing last night, but at least we avoided that 4th defeat, but considering the opportunities that fell our way, Firmino 2x, you can't help feel a little down by the final whistle. Yes, they had the peno, but other than Moses hitting the post, they offered little otherwise, whereas we showed, on occasion, especially the opening periods of each half, some of what we were bringing to the table prior to 2017.
Need a win, we can get a win, so a win is all that's acceptable.

The title race is over now for everyone IMO, but top 4 is still very much on. None of our other competition look that impressive either right now. It will be tough but a win here is absolutely crucial to build some momentum.

If we can keep Coutinho, Firminio, Mane and Lallana fit for the remainder of the games, we've got a great chance of 2nd still.

Yep indeed..Considering the bad results we had in January...LFC still only a point of 2nd place....

I want to kiss Hull's forehead. Good job boys. Put everything into today, left no sweat unsweated. Now you can relax and rollover on the weekend.

This could be quite tough. I like that new manager, seems really good tactically. Only lost 1 in their last 9 at home. Thought they deserved to reach the cup final over the 2 legs too. And they'll play it like everyone else does v us.

Should have too much though. A win here would be really impressive in the circumstances even if it is *only* Hull.

Not that it is hugely disruptive but Hull will be without Markovic which just helps them change once again after all the changes they have made in the last week or so.

Jurgen Klopp is speaking to the press about Liverpool's 1-1 draw with Chelsea on Tuesday. He says the team were spurred on by the fans at Anfield.

"Even when you a perfect side, which we are not, you still lose football games, nobody wins every game. We felt the power of positive energy. The atmosphere was outstanding. It helps, everyone who wants to help is very welcome. It makes life easier if you have a good feeling and can go for it."

On Saturday Klopp's side face Marco Silva's Hull, who managed to hold onto a 0-0 draw at OId Trafford last night.

"It's an interesting challenge (for Silva) I'm impressed. It's interesting to watch. We know how to play them. Now we have to show it."

Jurgen Klopp also brings us team news and confirms there are no new injuries but a few players are carrying "knocks" - He says they should all be in training today.

The Liverpool manager also commented on Jose Mourinho's claim he is treated differently to other managers by match officials, using Klopp as an example.

Back story: The Liverpool manager apologised after shouting in fourth official Neil Swarbrick's face during the second half of Tuesday's match at Anfield, and said the official told him: "No problem, I like your passion."

"I think it depends on the fourth official" said Klopp today.

"I had no idea why he (Mourinho) spoke about me".

"We all know what we can do. When I saw the picture (of himself shouting at the fourth official) afterwards it didn't look too nice but it was not as bad as it looked so that's why I said what happened"

"Maybe I was lucky with what the fourth official said because I have never heard something like this before. There are different ways to handle the situation. It is quite an emotional game and to switch off emotions is not that simple. We struggle - not only myself and Jose, but Arsene Wenger and a lot of other people struggle. We are all different; sometimes we get a fine, sometimes not. It's not what we want to do nor is it a tactic. It was worse with me when I was younger. I have already improved".

Jurgen Klopp also had his say on Mamadou Sakho moving to Crystal Palace on loan for the rest of the season.

"If I should give advice to Mama I would do it personally, not in front of [cameras].

"Who knows what happens in half a year? We felt already what changed in one month and there is another five to go.

"He should concentrate on the job at Palace and we should concentrate on the job here.

"At the moment he is on loan and he still has a contract at Liverpool but that is not the thing we talk or think about at this moment. It is a solution for the moment and we can wait for new impressions and what happens."

Boss on LFC's top-six record, Hull and Marco Silva

Jürgen Klopp addressed the media at Melwood this afternoon ahead of Liverpool's trip to Hull City on Saturday.

The boss provided an update on the fitness of his squad, as well as his views on the atmosphere at Anfield during Tuesday's draw with Chelsea and Georginio Wijnaldum's goalscoring potential.

Klopp also discussed the Reds' record against other teams in the Premier League's top six and the challenge Hull City and their head coach Marco Silva will provide this weekend.

Read on for a summary of the manager's thoughts on these topics...

On Liverpool’s record against fellow members of the top six and other teams in the league…

We won a lot of games against these kind of teams. We lost three against those teams that you would call ‘weaker’ or whatever. It was about us, it’s not about not knowing how to do it or whatever, we didn’t do it always that well. If you want to pick out these three games which we lost then I think Burnley was pretty special, very early, it’s almost not allowed to put it in that bunch of games. Bournemouth was very special, we did really well and I don’t know what happened there - we gave it away but we did everything nearly perfect until a specific point. Even Swansea was not good but it was that we had no chances or something like this.

Even when you are a perfect side, which we are not, then obviously you will lose football games, that’s how it is, that’s why nobody wins 100 per cent of games in a season. But I think we’ve proved often enough that we know the way to do it, the problem is that it not always works – that’s why we are working with human beings and things like this happen. It’s always a different situation, in three or four weeks a lot can happen. That’s a job to do, to react to this. You can react before it happens, sometimes you have to react after it happens., about confidence, about form, about shape, different things and it’s not that easy to explain. But for me the most important thing is that we know how to play them, but now we have to show it all the time, that’s how it is.

                          On Hull...

[Anyone] who saw Hull yesterday against Man United, I thought should be really impressed by the way they’re playing. OK, the last 20 minutes was one-way football because United started playing the long balls and it was difficult, but even then they did well, one or two brilliant goalkeeper saves. Hull is still second from bottom – but when you saw them playing yesterday, I couldn’t see it, I couldn’t see it, so that shows how difficult the job is to do. [They have] a lot of good players now, Huddlestone [looked] outstandingly good, but when he played here it was completely different, for example. That’s what teams can create and Hull can obviously create a bit.

It’s not about thinking about what we have to do there and then, they had a really deep formation in the last 20 minutes but that was forced by United – in all other parts of the game they were a football-playing side. We will see what happens against us, we play different to Man United, but I think we are prepared, we have meanwhile a lot of different things we can do on the pitch. We need to bring it on the pitch and then we have a good chance, but it will be difficult.

                          On Marco Silva...

I am impressed, what can I say? It was a pretty interesting challenge to make the analysis, we’ll do it today finally because Peter Krawietz and some of our boys were there to watch the game live because they’ve had a lot of different line-ups and systems in the last few games and it’s interesting to watch. They’ve played United now three times, the power and strength of United, OK, that’s not too easy but they did really well and that’s without confidence because of the results because they don’t always get [good] results so Silva is obviously a good manager.

Jürgen Klopp offers injury update ahead of Hull trip

Jürgen Klopp will have a near full squad to choose from on Saturday after reporting no new fitness concerns ahead of Liverpool's trip to Hull City.

The Reds sustained no fresh injury blows during Tuesday's 1-1 draw with Chelsea, despite Jordan Henderson, Nathaniel Clyne and Dejan Lovren overcoming minor issues to feature.

Long-term absentees Danny Ings, Marko Grujic and Ovie Ejaria remain unavailable, but the German faces an otherwise tough team selection at the KCOM Stadium.

"We had, before the [Chelsea] game, a few issues," he explained to reporters at his pre-match press conference.

"We had still Clyney with the [rib] problem, but he was really fine, Hendo was really fine, Dejan Lovren was then really fine.

"Nothing else really happened in the game so they should be all in training today."

The recent return to fitness of a number of senior stars and a less packed fixture schedule in the coming months could result in fewer first-team opportunities for the club's young players.

But Klopp revealed that the Academy prospects who have made an impact in the first half of the season will remain at Melwood after proving themselves capable of training at the elite level required.

"Actually, it means nothing for them because they are settled in the training group, [which] I think is the most important step," he added.

"Being used sometimes because you are a talent or something like this is one thing, being always involved because you don’t disturb the process and you can keep the level, that's the most important thing.

"They are really involved and that’s the level they can train [at] already. They have [no] experience but they have a lot of talent and a lot of skills so, for them, it’s all good.

"Young players with big skills, [which] they obviously have, and are patient enough to do what they have to do - the world is bright and everything is fine for them. Nothing changes for them.

"If they [will] have match time in the Premier [from] the first minute, I don't know, but in this moment - and hopefully it stays like this - we have actually not the biggest injury issues, so we have more options to choose."

Now the title is gone and no trophies to win we are left with a fight to secure a top four place. Brilliant. Exciting times. I guess champions league will help us buy better players? Remind me how that worked out last time. Money, **** loads of money gets you the best player's. TV rights are worth way more than champions league funds. We don't want to spend. It's wenger like.
