We seem a little brainless on the pitch, like we're unable to find solutions in-game.

I agree. Unfortunately those type of players are like gold-dust.

its gone way too far for a sacking to be enough.

We would, but finding another Masch would be difficult.

The closest to him that I can think of, in terms of style and availability, is probably Gary Medel.

Not sure that a pure holding/defensive midfielder is the answer though (well not unless he was top drawer. My own thinking is that a deep playmaker may be what we need and if we got a good quality to high quality one who also brought good positional and defensive qualities to the table, then we might solve a number of issues with one player.

A high quality player of this type would be someone like Veratti. High energy, good reader of the game, mobile, creative, good at tracking players, good tackler when needed, good intercepter, very good passer, and is a tempo setter.

Who I would regard as a good player of this type would be someone like Geis. Able to sit deep, able to go box to box, good passer, good at getting stuck in when that is needed, can play make, and is mobile.

Get in as good a player of that type as we can, and we would have a guy that can read play and shield the backline when we are on the back foot or open to a counter, but we would also have a guy who can dictate play and push us on when we have the ball.
I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.

I think we need a proper out and out goalscorer, we don't have one at present. Yes the front 3 have been getting decent numbers of goals but they all seem to be patchy goalscorers and the goals seem to have dried up at the moment - we don't look like we can buy a goal at present. Just having someone that you knew if you created chances for them they would score would make a huge difference to this side IMO. None of the front 3 you expect to score goals every game or every other game like a Rush, Fowler, Owen, Torres, Suarez etc. Sturridge is the closest to that but he isn't the same player anymore.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

look at Arsenal with Giroud. at the moment Sturridge seems to have lost it and Origi will never be a pure goalscorer imo.

Well it's early Feb and the window is closed. We have to try something. Even starting Loren upfront and launching it. For the next 3 months doing the same is mental.

Two players challenging the keeper unchallenged from a second ball on a corner and a one on one from a 40 punt down the centre of the pitch, that's how we conceded today. We are losing mainly because we can't defend for ****. Having two actual defenders on the pitch can't help.

Agreed, largely. Personnel may explain that we will struggle more against a certain approach, but after well over a month of this we should have answers and they should be working. We might well need to alter the skill mix of the squad further down the line, but there are clearly changes we need to make to the way we play now.

                          We need a holding player

Just watched our highlights on MOTD. 2nd goal is a 40 yard straight ball ffs that's criminal

We've been done in recent weeks right through the middle by players running straight through or players playing straight balls

                          That's schoolboy stuff

Lucas Romero was touted as the next Masch but his career stalled a bit - left Velez for Cruizero for £2.5m

When Rafa joined us, then LFC were able to attract some of the best young players. Alonso, Agger, mascherano, Torres were all coveted but we were able to promise them a platform to improve.

For me, we need to do this again. Go and get the best young players before a superclub goes and picks them up. If we sign Southampton's best, then the best we can become is ****in Southampton. For me, we need to match the likes of city, Chelsea etc in terms of offer and wages but with the added bonus of that fact that we are likely to give more game time.

                                Have to agree with that.
