I think we have significant issues with 'closing down games'. Firstly our defensive style is a kinetic/dynamic one. We don't have a traditional string defence used to absorbing pressure close to goal. Secondly in terms of midfield personnel. I don't think we really have the players to do it - we have high energy, runners and dynamic creative players but no one really suited to dictating the tempo of a game.

If we don't want to change our style (I don't see any sign of Klopp doing that) then at least we need two more mobile options in midfield to ensure our energy doesn't drop (Can and Grujic haven't been reliable as starters or from the bench this season).

I don't believe it is a failure of leadership in any fundamental way.

Thing is when we played City around Xmas time , I felt that was a great disciplined performance where we defended really well as a team and didn't let them have any chances.

Surely a player in midfield knows when to hold or cover , Alonso and Mash were like a symbiotic pairing when they played together.

Still missing that collective at times. Like Mane Cout and Firmi know what they are doing as a three , the Midfield three are missing that cohesion.

I think had Son tucked that chance away, then the rest of the game might have been very different. We should have been 3 or 4 goals to the good but if we were only 1 goal up going in at half time, then I wonder would we have been able to either add to our lead or hold on.

Going forward though, I think that with the right additions in the transfer market (and I fully trust Klopp to get that one right) then I think we will be a brilliant team in about 2 years time....

On a sidenote, Draxler has looked brilliant for PSG. Pity he didn't join LFC (if we were truly linked) because he would certainly have made a big difference. Him on the left of a front 3, with Mane on the right would be brilliant. Would also allow Coutinho to drop into the middle 3 and create more from deep.....
