Two players so far have managed 30 starts or better in the league - Clyne and Milner with 31 and 30
One has managed 29 - Firmino
One has managed 27 - Wijnaldum
One on 25 starts - Mane
Three with 24 starts - Lallana, Lovern, and Henderson.
Then it tails off for everyone else being between 22 and 1
Is just as bad when all comps are taken into consideration. The number of players with 30 or more starts in all comps is a whopping four - Clyne (34), Firmino (34), Milner (33), and Wijnaldum (31)I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.

Think to compete we need at least six or seven of our best starting XI to be clocking up 30+ league starts a season.
Just looked at Chelsea's stats and they have seven players with 27 or more starts so far in the league this season.
Spurs also have seven with 27 or more starts to date in the league.
Leicester last season had eleven players who finished the season with 28 or more PL starts.
In 2013/14 we had seven who finished with 28 or more starts in the league.
Is just so important to have that lion share of the team being able to clock up that many starts.I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.

Firmino has been rested due to international commitments, he would be in your top tier otherwise. Mane was away in an international competition. Wijnaldum was eased into the first team, on this form, he'd easily be in the top tier.Originally posted by Jaco_Pastorious View PostTwo players so far have managed 30 starts or better in the league - Clyne and Milner with 31 and 30

Wijnaldum wasn't eased in. He started every game until getting injured in October on international duty. That caused him to miss a game and then only be used as a sub for a few matches.Originally posted by foresterbloke View PostFirmino has been rested due to international commitments, he would be in your top tier otherwise. Firmino does make my top tier. He is in the top four for appearances in the league and for all comps.
Yes Mane was away for international duty, but still means the same thing in terms of missing games. We simply did not have enough regular best first XI starters to make up for the loss of a player like him.
If we had say six of our best XI able to start 30+ games this season, then Mane being away in January might not have had quite as much impact. But we are looking like we will finish the season with 4 players making it to 30 or more league starts, and as such we have season a season with a lot of inconsistencies and a hell of a lot of chopping and changing.
Would wager that if we signed nobody at all this summer, but somehow managed to get to the end of next season with at least six or seven of our current best XI clocking up around 30 starts in the league we would have a very good season.
We have done very well this season considering how few of our better players have managed to play in the same team at the same time on a regular basis.I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.
