I think that I mentioned this before but I think it's about managing Robbo's minutes and bringing Kerkez through slowly. Robertson's performance level will likely improve from where they were last season or at least be more consistent if he's not playing so many games, I think he is still capable but not if he needs to play 2 games a week. The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

So he's not been played to save his legs? Poor management to not use more than he has so far.Originally posted by Exiled_red View PostI think that I mentioned this before but I think it's about managing Robbo's minutes and bringing Kerkez through slowly. I don't know the reasons but in a period of the season where we are playing 2 games a week I would be playing Robbo in one and Kerkez in the other, to be keeping both fresh, older players tend to need longer recovery periods to keep their levels up, Kerkez hasn't been in a situation where he has been playing a couple of games a week before, so for different reasons I would be looking to share the games between the two and hopefully keep both fitOriginally posted by BobTheCharmer View PostSo he's not been played to save his legs? Obviously it’s the logical thing to do.
Me, I’m either planning a holiday or I’m on one.

Don’t forget he played 70 mins against Palace too. He has put a shift in the last week. He was superb tonight.Originally posted by Buzzo View PostThink he’s been brilliant last 2 games.
He’s an absolute warrior and has risen to the challenges this season well his attitude is flawless. I think Kerkez can learn a lot from him. He knows the nuts and bolts of the position so well.We are here for a good time not a long time....

The thing everyone forgets is that Robertson played in the Euros in summer 2024 - playing in an international tournament for the first time - he was already knackered after years of that 100% high octane style he has - playing over the summer (and getting ****ing embarrassed on an international stage, let's be honest) definitely took its toll.
He was done in with no break at the start of that new season and was in constant catch up, plus he had the added stress of a new manager changing what he was doing.
Far too soon to write him off, he's our best ever left back.

Agree, He is only 31. He was being written off far too early and was suffering from that online element of there needing to be someone for the support to go after.
If his standards did drop slightly at times last season he was still a fundamental player in a team that romped to a league title.
We cannot jettison all of the experience we have within the squad. There are more than enough games for both he and Kerkez to play this season, but for me the dependability he provides and the much needed stability within the team right now is priceless, plus he is the ideal player to bring Kerkez on much as he has alluded to in his conversations with Bradley. The step up on expectation when you sign for Liverpool is massive we know it can take time.
Kerkez is the future but doesnt look ready yet. Who better to mentor him? And in Kerkez who better to ensure Robbo has to be playing at the level he’s shown over the last few weeks to stay in the team.Last edited by Buzzo; 05-11-25, 05:47 PM.Modifying post.

The extra challenge might have spurred him on a bit. While he’s very professional and wouldn’t have taken his position in the team for granted it’s probably been the first time he’s had a genuine challenger to his position and not just a back up so he can have a rest.
It’s easy to say it now but Slot could have eased some of the new players in a bit more gradually. I’m sure he’ll also be learning through all this.

In fairness that first bit isn't true and is a reaction to good displays in recent games. The truth is that his performances dropped off a cliff for a long time, the best part of 18 months or so. They didn't drop off slightly and it didn't look like a dip in form, as it went on for so long. He's had a few good games and it's great to see as Kerkez had looked pretty poor but it's too early to say he's back!! Whether or not it's a bubble or a reaction to LFC bringing Kerkez in has upped his game.... we'll take it. Hopefully the latter, as if we can get him playing consistently like this, he will be a huge asset for us and a good mentor for Kerkez to learn (If he can that is, I'm skeptical but he's still young ).Originally posted by Buzzo View PostAgree, He is only 31.
