I think he is starting due to a lack of options, at the moment the alternatives are Ngumoha who Slot doesn't want to play alot due to his age and Chiesa who IMO is an impact sub, I wonder if Szoboszlai might have been used there more if he weren't playing ar RB or fighting fires elsewhere... Squad is on it's arse

Having both Bradley and Frimpong out at the same time is a big part of it along with Gomez being out for some of the same time as those two.

The other thing with Salah at the moment is we are now into Ramadan which may further impact his performances (also will affect Konate and Ekitike). I have a vague recollection of us discussing Mo's form around Ramadan in previous years. Obviously he has been poor all season so while it is not the cause it may have a further impact in the next few weeks.

This was your first post in 2019. Be fair to say you’ve never really liked or rated Salah?

He missed a lot of chances last season but in the end it didn't matter because we created so many and he scored so many. This season we're not creating as many and because we're in a title fight the misses appear more crucial. His all round play has been subpar for a while though, constantly running into defenders, misplacing simple passes and making wrong decisions.

It's a recurring theme with Salah; he scores goals but his all-round play is hardly world class given the number of times he is completely nullified by journeyman defenders. When he's not scoring it brings other parts of his game into sharp focus, especially if the team isn't winning.

After serving up another dud on the biggest stage in European club football the chances of cashing in on Mr. Revenge are pretty slim. Who would want a player for mega money that shouts his mouth off before a game but doesn't back it up on the pitch, yet feels entitled to make ridiculous financial demands?
