I know the club are probably worried about what giving him a big contract will do to the wage structure, but he is irreplaceable, if you were even attempting to replace him you'd be looking at the likes of Haaland and Mbappe who would both want similar salaries and we'd likely have to fork out big transfer fees and/or signing on fees, and as good as those guys are they aren't currently at Salah's level.

That's the thing. He is better than Mbappe. I feel like maybe a year or so ago, most fans would have swapped him for Mbappe? I dunno. But he's undoubtedly better than Mbappe, and it's pretty incredible for us to have someone who is unquestionably the best player in the world playing for us. Lol.

Yup, I've felt OK about him being sold to purchase the next frontman, but we can't let him go, that would be a huge own goal. There will be scenes if FSG do that.

As I say I can see why the club and owners might be reluctant to break the wage structure but if we have the best player in the world and he wants to stay but we end up letting him go to a Real Madrid/Barcelona/PSG what message does that send out about us as a club? We would be back to being a team who can't/won't do what we need to in order to get to/stay at the top. I suspect that would piss off the fans, manager and make other players question their futures.

it was so frustrating when we lost Torres/Suarez/coutinho… but this would be 10 times worse cos the player himself actually wants to stay. He deserves what he’s asking for too. I feel like it will get done though. They’ll prob announce it over the January window to keep us happy, same way they did with hendos contract on deadline day… but in this instance it would actually work, for me at least, haha
