defo mate, a good world cup/euros can make a huge difference to who wins these awards. Modric tbf was pretty daman good for most of the season and I thought he was exceptional at the world cup.

Still cant figure out the thinking behind that team of the year though.

The Salah goal while quality was absolutely nowhere the best goal, they snubbed him for the best player & team of the year award... so it was a token award and one which he shouldn't have won. How he wasn't even in the team of the year says all you need to know.

Mo had the season of a lifetime , breaking the Premier scoring record which had stood for years and didn't even make the team of the year !!!

Courtois played for Chelsea who came 5th and got in as well ?

Modric has been good for years at Madrid but to suddenly win it must be because of the world cup.

It's a ridiculous award and not apparent logic to inclusions. Salah is one thing on a few fronts, and Messi not even being top-3 last year with better stats than any of the top three candidates is another.

I also love how the best goalkeeper of last year is not in Team of the Year Or how Salah is apparently in top-3 players in the world of the year, but not good enough for the team with players below him in the nomination taking the spot

Yeah Ballon d'Or is still awarded by France Football each year, but it was merged with FIFA's award for 5-6 years, and they split up again last year.
