If you take out his freakishly good first season, his games per goal stats were 1.92, 2.08, 1.65, 1.65, in the last 4 years. This season he's at 1.8, which is the same as he has averaged over the last 4 years.

But not in the league. His numbers are boosted by the cups. In comparison to previous seasons, he has looked very sluggish running into the box.
Regardless there is plenty of blame to go around. The lack of a decent right sided midfielder has ****ed Trent too leaving our right hand side a total mess.Last edited by Charly; 02-03-23, 06:02 PM.In the beginning, Fowler created the Heaven and the Earth.

The sports use is a semantic change popularised by people talking the ‘journey’ part too literally

It’s someone who can do a job but isn’t outstanding at it.
Journey comes from the French for ‘day’ - journée.
A Journeyman man was someone who’d charge for days work, usually a craftsman or tradesman.
In sports, it’s come to mean someone who’s played for a lot of teams. Can we all agree on "journeythem"?Originally posted by Harv View PostWhy put journey in there at all then. Daft.Felching ≠ Gerbilling

UmmmmmmmmmOriginally posted by Tatterdemalion View PostHe's been a great goalscorer without a doubt. A note about those around him in the goals tables - Dalglish, Rush, Liddell and Fowler played for us in their twilight years so Salah is a little flattered by that. Gerrard as a midfielder is not real competition.

Rush played his last game for us at 35 ; Dalglish at 36 ; Fowler at 32 ; Liddell at 38. So yeh - they played a lot of games for us in their later years....
...which - to join the dots - means they played a lot of games when they were not at their most productive in front of goal - and still have great records.Last edited by Tatterdemalion; 03-03-23, 02:17 AM.Really?

It's almost like they had more time to score goals..Was muß, das muß.

My point is that strikers' goals per game ratio gets worse as they get older. Salah hasn't suffered from that yet whereas the others had. That means his goals per game record at the moment is a little flattering. It's not difficult to understand. And it doesn't mean he isn't a great striker. He’s going to need a goal a game to get to his league goals tally from the last couple of years.
