Look at Barca's post Neymar signings.

Teams knew they had money burning a hole in their pocket and rightly screwed them over. Phil and Dembele being the most obvious examples.

In fact, even if we sold Salah for £215m now who's to say that by the time we get around to spending the dough a Maupay might cost you £150m? Okay, that might be wildly inflationary but you see what I mean...

Klopp will just boot up EA24 and make a list.

That strategy works for me anyway

Though , as others have said, we do not need to try and replace Mo with a similar level player. Mainly because such a player is not there right now and some of those that might grow into being equally as effective in their own way are at clubs that will not sell (Vini jr as an example.)

My take would be to take that 200m or 250m or 300m and bring in a good DM, a good mobile CB and a right sided attacker (or someone that can be converted to play there). Or use the money to bring in two and use our regular transfer kitty to bring in other players we need.

as for the attackers if I had to pick some right now my own list would consist of the likes of Adeyemi (still young, still developing but just looks like he might have that something that special players have), Bakayoko ( maybe to a lesser degree than Adeyemi but looks like he has something about him), Kvaratskhelia (price tag just shot up but excellent on the left and looks just as effective when on the right wing and finally the budget breaker in Saka .

Not saying all of those are as easy to get as just slapping in a bid, but there are a number of quality attackers out there that could excel in a Klopp team and them not being ion Salah's level is not as big an issue if we also bring in one or two other players from the same money and make the team unbit stronger than it was.

If he wants to go next summer, the club should identify targets knowing they will have 100-300 mil to play with.

I’m sure the saudis will stay in contact and then after hinting that a deal for 200 plus mil can be done if replacements are signed before, they should announce it after they come in.

I doubt we'll get £200m next summer for Salah, especially with one year left on his deal. Saudi's will likely offer half of that at most.

In a world where Kane fetches 100m from a club with tighter purse strings with one year left on his contract?

Would guffaw down the phone at them if they make any offer lower than what they have already made.

They do not offer mad money in January or next summer, then they can wait until the summer of 2025 and take the gamble he wants to move to a retirement league then.

I think Salah's gone next summer anyway, but Kane's fee was £86m + add-ons taking it to £100m, I honestly believe we'd be mad to expect anything close to £200m for Salah next summer. Even Neymar's move was about £77m+ add-ons. Maybe due to Salah's profile in the Middle East, we could expect substantially more, but he'll be 32, with a year left. Maybe £100m + achievable add-ons. If we want the disgusting sums of money, it's either going to be now, or a January sale IMO.

If we want to sell or Mo wants to leave next summer we need to bring in a replacement in the January window otherwise we are getting screwed over on a transfer fee for any potential replacement.

Sell now for 215m but keep him on loan until next summer

He is still a top class player and would be the ultimate catch for the Saudi's. If they can offer 200m plus now, they can give it a bash in the summer with similar figures. Regardless if Mo is on the wane at the highest level which may very well be correct, I guarantee he still put up high figures. He has 2 goals and 2 assists in 4 games, 3 of which are considered tough fixtures & the team is only going to develop in understanding which should hopefully benefit Mo. There are more than one ultra rich and stupid Saudi clubs, let them throw silly bids in next summer.

Or maybe Mo just stays here for his contract and leaves on a free transfer.

Nope, there is only one mega rich buyer and it is none of the four main clubs as they are all state owned. Is why you are never going to see a bidding war involving the main clubs from that league.

They (the top clubs there) do not bid. It is the department of the ministry of sport that makes the bid, that buys the registration of the player and decides which of the clubs the player is going to.

Even some of the lesser supposedly non state owned clubs still have members of the royal family or affiliates of the royal family owning/running them.

It's funny that with the Saudi teams, only one team is allowed to bid for a particular player...only one!...not a bidding war between these teams. Are they all owned by the same crowd?

The PIF own the 4 biggest clubs. They buy the players and then decide which club they will be assigned to.

                              It’s a complete joke of a league.

It is a complete joke but I kind of like that they're divvying out the best players so that there's some competitiveness in the league. Feels similar to the draft in US leagues
