Dangling a leg as a winger skips past, that kind of thing. That’s not to say there aren’t as many examples of him doing particularly well, but it’s what he does that people tent to criticise, not where abouts on the pitch he is.
Jeez, every player will have a horror reel if you go looking for them. Look, Virg must hate defending too

He’s just not very good at the whole defending thingy.

Nope, Edwards didn't offer it, Ward was the one following Edwards departure - From stories out there he was against Milner/Henderson deals also, but JK won through,

Can see Salah off this summer along with others if Edwards is appointed.

A data led approach means zero ****s for achievement I'm afraid

I suppose, there is no emotion in data.

I think the deals for older players isn’t a one side fits all approach. I’m sure with someone like Edwards there is data involved driving his decisions. You don’t just get rid of players or not offer them new deals because of age.

Mo looks like he could keep going at the top level for many more years and VVD is looking good. With Henderson you could see a physical drop because of how he played. Milner kept going but wasn’t someone you could start week in week out. Look at Gini, once he left he was never able to perform at the same level. And what about Alison, keepers can keep performing well into their 30’s so you won’t get rid because of his age.

I wasn’t posting a horror reel, I was showing the kind of things he gets criticised for, paired with my post. ie he is called lazy not because he’s caught upfield, but because he looks like he hardly tries to stop wingers quite often, dangling a lazy leg or giving up tracking back if he’s been beaten. Basically, I disagree with your premise of Trent getting more stick for his position on the pitch than Bradley, especially when experience (and even value) are considered. Trent gets more stick but not for that, and Bradley has shown more apparent commitment to his duties than Trent often demonstrates.

i remember watching us play many years ago with my sister who played in university, and she said "what's with that glen johnson guy, how come he's not getting back? lazy."

and i replied with what i still think is true, rafa (was it rafa?) wanted him to stick with the attack because he was good at coming inside and hitting it with his left. we have a CDM to cover him. it's not that he's not getting back it's that we're hoping to turn the ball over before he has to come back when the play resets.

i think that's the idea with trent as well.

I completely disagree with your last line, a data lead approach means making decisions based on good information and not emotion. It doesn’t mean if you are over a certain age then we don’t want you. The world and it’s mother could see Hendo was regressing yet Klopp insisted on an extension and pay rise - that is emotion over logic.

VVD is still top class so you renew him but at a contract length that works for you. You also avoid players with injury history such as Thiago regardless of how good he is and you target players from foreign markets a bit earlier

Id have sold Salah in the summer, but I think he has adapted his game since. He wont be sold, imho because he doesnt want to go. He could have seen his last contract out but signed a new one. I dont think he is desperate to play in the Saudi league while he can still play at the top. That offer will remain until the following year.

Trents pronlem is he does track rinners very well. You cant let a man run free regardless of hoping to turn it over

I think Mo should be sold. The last thing a new manager that's having to follow Klopp needs, is to have an aging Salah that he has to play every week. It would be too hard to leave him out, the questions he would be faced with would be huge and a distraction. Easier if the decision is taken prior to the new guy arriving. A clean slate. Thanks Mo, your records won't be broken. Now win us the league before you go.

                          The guy's 31, not 41!

Three of Bayer Leverkusen's starting XI are 31 years old.

Are they on 350k each per week?

Disagree all you want, it doesn't change the fact that he gets stick for this - I've certainly not imagined reading and hearing it.

Anyway enough has been said, it's the Mo Salah thread after all

Salah's still got it and it looks like barring some serious injury will still have it for a few years yet. He's 32 in the summer, I think as long as both he and the club are happy with the situation (what he offers and how much game time he is getting) and a sensible financial package can be agreed he would be mad to leave for somewhere like Saudi. IMO he probably has at least 2-3 years left at the top of world football, and could probably play a few years beyond that in a Saudi/MLS TYPE league if he wanted to. The other thing is the Saudi league doesn't look all it was cracked up to be a year ago
