Its not a problem if eveyone else is contributing well.

Problems occur when all three forwards cant get into the game. Diaz has his problems when he gets in the box. We need to find a way to get the best out of these players as none of them are complete strikers. The Obvious thing to do would be to move Salah centrally, but we dont have anyone on the right then, and you lose Jota.

I think Gakpo might play the left sided role more regularly as we get more into the season Gakpo Jota and Salah as the preferred front 3 with Diaz and Nunez as the options from the bench. I wouldn't be surprised if to keep Mo fit we see Diaz coming on on the right side as well as the left.

Would love if he signed a new 2 year extension on his contract.

People talk about his age and his pace etc but the guy is a ****in machine.

212 goals for Liverpool is epic. Rush has something like 346 but Roger Hunt is second on 285. Would love to see Mo beat that one and aim for 300. From the ****in right wing!!!

I wouldn't be unhappy about a two year extension - he's essential to the way we play and it would give us three years to find a suitable player to replace him.

He is currently 5th on the all time list with 212, Billy Liddell is ahead of him in 4th on 228, you would think he has a good chance of moving beyond that if he can stay fit. Gordon Hodgson is 3rd on 241, 30 goals this season and he could reach that too.

To match Hunt he would need to average nearly 25 goals a season for 3 years, and to make 300 average 30 for 3 years. Given he is 32 now I think that is a big ask given there will likely be managing of his minutes etc. Realistically might need him to stay until he is 37 or something to get 300.

Not so sure.... If he is still on penos then he could get 80 goals in 3 seasons imo

Obviously he has proven multiple times he is capable 30 goal seasons, but they have come when he has played about 50 games a season and has played alot of minutes. He is still clearly fit, but as he gets older you imagine we have to manage his minutes so it becomes difficult to get those numbers even if he is still able to play at that level (age will likely affect that too to some extent). I think it is possible but if he were only here 3 more years I think he might just fall short.

Happy to be proved wrong though...

I think some people undervalue his movement. On both goals yesterday was a good example of it. He is always active, always aware of the space in behind and always available. He knows how to work a full back.

People will point to the times he loses the ball, or that he doesn’t always have the skill to take on and get past his full back, but that’s football. You could argue that Diaz is better at this but really it’s down to end product. If Mo loses the ball 5 times when 1 v 1 but scores and assists that to me identified how much of a threat he always is. Not express pace any more but no slouch, and his ability on the ball when he has space is again under rated and reflected in the volume of assists. A smart player also, always evolving.

Other players might have highlight reels showing flicks, skills, running past defenders etc.

Mo has a highlight reel showing goals and assists.

If it were that easy then it would reflect in the stats with other players. His effort is always 100% and his G and A stats are behind now only Henry in the history of the prem. including some elite centre forwards (he is RW).

I also think he has at least 2 more seasons where he can contribute at this level, and with some game management perhaps even more. Whilst he has agitated for a market value contract he has never once shown any desire to leave. He is definitely on for being the third highest scorer in the history off the club, at RW with less games than any other player in the modern era (last 50 years) He is elite.

Moving Salah central foes seem like an obvious move. However, in his prime he was a very complete player. My concern with him moving centrally is he doesn't hold the ball up that well anymore. He used to hold ball up better than most world class number 9s. I saw an episode on the Atheltic where they said the power on his shots has actually declined and his accuracy has gotten worse.

Yes, Diaz is frustrating in the 18 yard box, his misses makes no sense.

For me he tends to go misding when the team plays poorly. I think he is wasted out wide where he can still turn but lacks the acceleration he once had.

I think he can influence more centrally where he is a better all round player than Jota. I still rate Jotas shooting over Salah though. He is statistically our best finisher since Fowler.

                          Thought he was excellent yesterday.
Maybe he's like Sampson and the hair implants have restored his strength and sharpness.

Yeah, I can see that. Just like CR9 moving centrally, but we shall see.

I thought it was the same salah we've seen for 2 years now. Struggling to get on the end of long balls, heavy touch, zero ability to beat a man, giving up possession easily, followed by some great through balls, good movement, a goal and assist. Mixed bag. No doubting he affects games in a positive way but he's also responsible for a lot of attacks breaking down. But I fully understand why people gloss over his failings while he keeps producing moments. I hope he's used better this season ie doesn't start every game. That way we can keep him fresher so he doesn't completing nose dive after Christmas. Incredible first day scoring record. Insane figures. 37 more wins required.
