Paul McGrath would be on a bender all week. Not train and not only play a worldie he'd make ****e centre half's look brilliant

Seen him a few times out and about drinking, he's the best looking alcoholic I've ever seen. Used to be playing games drunk or hungover and be sensational which is a crazy thought. Years ago he walked through Coppers nightclub with a absolutely cracking blonde bird on his arm, the whole place start singing Uh Ah Paul McGrath.

For 2-3 seasons he was imperious. Incredibly quick, read the game so well, just made it all look very easy.
              Thanks very much for being

Probably explains why he never progressed beyond the United / Villa level he played at for the majority of his career.

Villa were title contenders for some of his time there.

A number of our own players that get regarded as having been top class and club legends could be dismissed in the same manner you did with McGrath if we judge them by the team/era they played in or their medal count.

Villa may have finished seconds a couple of times but from what i can remember they weren't in with a shout of actually winning the title. They also were a bit of a YoYo club. Second one season mid table the next.

My point being if McGrath had applied himself properly he could have been regarded as one of the best. Instead we get some romanticised bollocks of him being a good CB whilst playing hanging / pissed.

Bit like us in the 1990s then or a bit like a certain Robbie Fowler in the 1990s?
