Lack of width was the issue for me - trying to constantly thread an impossible ball through a congested defence, we needed to go wide more often and try to stretch them and create space.

No width but even if you have width if you ain't transitioning quickly between defence and attack it gives the opposition time to set their block

I’ve seen suggestions that we play long balls, let the, have it and then gegenpress the hell out of them. Klopp often says gegenpressing is a great attacking tool.

Not being righteous, apart from City it's happened to all the top clubs this season. should we beat Swansea, yes - is it massively disappointing, yes - is it because we sold Coutinho, no - we have been **** plenty of times with him in the team and lost to **** teams with him in the team - it's all the "if we don't replace Coutinho we won't make CL" that wind me up - there is no one like him anywhere - you can't replace him - he's gone, let's move on - we had a bad day across the board but it's not the end of the world.

Look, this is the match thread for a game that we put in an abject performance and lost to the team that are bottom of the league. There is a time and place for context and bigger picture but don't start patronising people for reacting to what they have just had to sit through. It is not knee jerk to be pissed at a performance like tonight. Nor is it knee jerk to question our options from the bench and the squad depth in the light of selling one of our best players when Danny Ings is our super sub.

Replacing him doesn’t necessarily mean a direct replacement. Like last season we are taking unnecessary risks in terms of getting top 4. It may or may not bite us in the arse, but it is unnecessary and negligent given how long we’ve known he wanted to be off & how little we have spent in the last couple of years.

Stop banging the drum about 19 undefeated. We have drawn a fair number. It's still impressive but most of us would have been angry had we drawn tonight. When we need to step up we come up short, this season, last season and every ****ing season.

We can play great football. Utd are **** I'm told. 6 clear now. Yet they are on the down. Right course they are.

On a positive, I like klopps interview. He's angry with the players. That gives me some relief.

To be clear, It is MASSIVELY frustrating. We weren't at it at all tonight.

It's not a one off it's a consistent theme through the season (and last few years), the vulnerability was visible in the city win, from 4-1 up we tried our best to throw that away. And there have been lots of other times in the season that it has been clear as day. I don't feel that the reaction is knee-jerk, the poor result magnifies the cracks but they have always been there.

We drop too many points, it's not about the games that you lose it's about the games that you fail to win that are costly, despite only losing 3 games we have failed to win 11 times

I didn't think we looked vulnerable tonight though, we conceded a daft goal with 4 of our players attacking the ball, but other than that we had nearly all the possession but just lacked the creativity to break down a team that parked the bus - admittedly not for the first time. A bit of complacency maybe having beaten City and going to the bottom team - whatever the reason we didn't click this evening.

Tonight we could have used a midfield, this is where we need a difference maker. For me tonight the midfield were dire, I mean they offered almost nothing, all they seemed to do was pass the ball sideways. I didn't understand the subs for me Ox was the best of the 3 but he was the first to go off. Wijnaldum and Can were as bad today as they were good against City. You can see why Wijnaldum has that crazy record of not scoring away from home, he's just poor most of the time away from home. I don't know why we bother playing him in away games.

Can's forward balls were laughable, looking to lift it over the last defender Gerrard style but launching them out of play. Not sure who was worse between him or Gini, Can was dreadful and Gini mostly anonymous, how do you compare?

So pretty stupid to play both tonight. Hindsight eh. No one could have seen how Swansea would set up. Completely caught us all by surprise.

It was frustrating as hell. I thought their manager's analogy was good: we're a Formula 1 car that hates heavy traffic. We look great against teams that attack us and give us space. But we struggle against the parked bus. But we fight. I think it would be good to have more pace in our full-backs - we need another option than the through ball down the middle. Perhaps we even missed Albert tonight...

I think you'll find I already said we were **** and that is was disappointing - but it's one game and symptomatic of us not taking advantage when we can. My oringinal comment was in response to the if we don't replace Coutinho we're doomed comments rather than just tonight's game - but whatever, taking this game in isolation then yes we ar **** - happy?
