I honestly cannot believe that, beat an unbeaten team top of the lg next game get done fair and square by a team firmly on the bottom.
Such a **** performance all round, with the exception of VVD. Emre Can is utterly useless in these types of games, against Barca he would be first on the team sheet against Brighton he is a liability. Gomez continues to fall deeper out of form, everything he did was ****. Andy lost the ability to whip the first ball in. I have seen that game too many ****ing times surely we have to come up with a different game plan. We need at Couthino style player in the middle three for these games, No bravery on the ball no invention side to side ****e ... I am so ****ing disappointed at that ... Honestly, those ****ing arseholes need to take a close look at themselves, better yet the Manager should think about that game, we need to push on, Emre Can is not the answer, we could do with another quality Midfielder and Mauro Icardi, why the **** are we not in for him, he is utterly perfect for this team, I would throw silly money at Inter for him

IMO firstly huge mistake to sell Sturridge and so short sighted not going all out to get some sort of creativity in thst midfield. What a chance we have this season... hate to think we could throw that away because of the no value in Jan market spiel.
TBH, even if we had Coutinho playing last night I still don't think we'd have won that game. Too many players simply didn't turn up, we do need more quality in that team though.

I think Naby Keita and VVD is a step in the right direction, We also need a new Right back, Joe has done really well stepping in there, but he is the weak link in that team and other teams are starting to target him time and time again.

When we beat them st home we started badly right and Phil scored a worldie and the game opened up afterwards. You need to take the lead against the dross so they have to open up.

Anyone else think Klopp gambled with his bench last night & got it badly wrong; just to show the board the lack of quality in the squad?

            No Sturridge, Henderson, Woodburn.

I can't think why Sturridge is being bombed out for Ings; irrespective of his recent injury, he is fit now; class is permanent & he would have been ideal last night.

No Henderson? i know we all think he is wank, but he really isn't & would have
driven us forward from midfield last night had he come on.

Why nothing different on the bench, Woodburn, Wilson? the original point from the league to increase the number of subs, was for clubs to bring youngsters in to the squad & give them experience. All the clubs have done is fill it with CBA squad players robbing a living.

Still ****ed off with last nights performance, as bad as Burnley away a few season ago when Djimi back heeled it in ......

The first line is conspiracy theory stuff. The players mentioned have nearly all been linked with moves in Jan. For every city win there's a draw with Everton and West Brom.

You also have to be brave on the ball, you have to try things, one-twos, dont be afraid to lose possession in their half, sometimes we are at our most dangerous when we don't have the ball. You could just tell in that game, we were ****ed and if we got anything it would be through dumb luck.

Most passes were behind the man, or heavy, the most adventurous player on the pitch was out CB both of them take you pick. Both out fullbacks did not affect the game in anyway and had zero service.

Emre Can was totally ****ing loss out there, he has not got the game intelligence for these types of games nor will he ever.

Karius got beat on his near post again

It was just so bad, we definetly need signings in this window ...

There is a danger that Coutinho becomes a better player for us now that he has left after we put in performances. But there is a large element of truth in therror claims that we are / will miss him. Coutinho had a lot of skills that are useful in these types of games, dribbling, through balls, long range shots and free kicks all offer the ability to open up tight defences. Looking at our squad now who replaces him in those aspects of the game? IMO the answer is no-one has done so effectively yet and I struggle to see who will step up in those areas. Which is why I feel that we need to sign replacement(s).
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

That was one of the worst performances I can remember for a long time. At no point did I feel that we looked like creating an opportunity, never mind scoring. If last night didn't show the need for a creative player now Phil has gone then nothing will.

Fair play to Swansea who were excellent with their game plan. Worked a treat.

I can't blame Karius for the goal, if anything VVD didn't get enough on his clearance, but I had suspected this would be more difficult that we'd realise. Coutinho wouldn't have changed this, the players need to take every game seriously, not just the top games, felt they didn't even try until the goal came. Feel Gomez is being showed up, against poor team teams I'd rather have TAA's attacking play.

Oh, and Swansea play a terrific defensive game, at one point I think they were playing 9-1.

On reflection these games happen. The team selection was slightly wrong imo and needed more craft centrally and in the wide areas.
The biggest annoyance was the timing of this poor performance. Beating the league leaders and then losing to the team at rank bottom.

I disagree with the notion Coutinho wouldn't have changed this. He offers much more attacking threat and creates space for others. He can shoot from distance extremely well and if playing well makes other people lift their game.

It's not guaranteed he would have changed it but there'd be an extremely good chance he would have.

I just feel he hasn't that often picked open those team that pack their defences, could be totally wrong though and will accept my fate if so.

It's a fair point and one we will never know the answer too! There have been games where he hasn't unpicked a defence but there have been a lot of games where he conjured up a piece of magic to win a game.
