Top 4 finish (four out of 6)

Looking at the remaining fixtures, there does seem to be the possibility for our top 4 rivals to take points off each other, meaning if we remain consistent against the rest (remember we've only lost 3 this season) we should be in a strong position for that top 4 position and potentially quite a high one.

    10/02/2018 Tottenham vs Arsenal
    24/02/2018 Manchester United vs Chelsea
    24/02/2018 Arsenal vs Manchester City
    03/03/2018 Manchester City vs Chelsea
    10/03/2018 Manchester United vs Liverpool
    31/03/2018 Chelsea vs Tottenham
07/04/2018 Manchester City vs Manchester United
    14/04/2018 Tottenham vs Manchester City
    28/04/2018 Manchester United vs Arsenal
    05/05/2018 Chelsea vs Liverpool

So basically there are 10 more games between the top 6 and only 2 which involve us. The key will be ensuring we pick up maximum points when our rivals play each other, as each time this happens one or both are guaranteed to lose ground on us.

Number of top 6 games left.
    Man City 4 (2 home, 2 away)
    Man Utd 4 (2 home 2 away)
    Liverpool 2 (2 away)
    Chelsea 4 (2 home 2 away)
    Spurs 3 (2 home 1 away)
    Arsenal 3 (1 home 2 away)

Interesting? Who knows. But I think we are in a decent position.

Great theory. But I can't help feeling we would be better suited to playing only the top 6. It's the rest we struggle against.

Well there is that, but we have been relatively consistent this season. Normally we are in the Spurs/Arsenal position at this time of year, with Chelseas form. We are on a decent run of form just now (lets take the Swansea game as a blip) so should be confident.

However, we need make it easy for ourselves.

Champs League/Europa and how the top 6 perform after difficult encounters will be huge.

      As will potentiall injuries.

Interesting that both our games are aways which means the home team has to attack. Allied with the more open style of a top six team and I'd say this bodes well for a maximum six points!

Normally I would agree with you on that point, but this season two of our three losses have come against top six teams.

In fact looking at the eight games we have played against the other top six teams this season we have two wins, two losses, and four draws with five of those games being at Anfield.

We have beaten none of the top six away from home so far this season, and dropped points to a top six team at Anfield three times from five games.

Chelseas next 6 include city /United away, Spurs home and probably missing a game due to fa cup. We could give ourselves a decent lead

They've also got a couple of CL games vs Barca to contend with. A really tough period coming up for them

Yeah, we will likely find somehow to make it more interesting than necessary - seems to be the Liverpool way these years

I think we're in a good position but you're spot on, I think it'll go to the last day.

Couple weeks ago i thought we would walk 2nd in the league

Now the doubts have set in with Spurs 2 points off us and Champions league starting again soon

All 6 of the top 6 have European football and Arsenal have to take theirs seriously and have the issue of Thurs/Sunday games. Chelsea are in self destruct mode and so I don't think that we're in necessarily a bad position

If Arsenal progress there and stay adrift in the league they may throw their resources into that ala United last season.
