Yep, that's prudent of them. They're also within touching distance of 4th though and if they beat Spurs they'll start dreaming of St Totteringham DayOriginally posted by labourRed View PostIf Arsenal progress there and stay adrift in the league they may throw their resources into that ala United last season.

Originally posted by Buzzo View PostLooking at the remaining fixtures, there does seem to be the possibility for our top 4 rivals to take points off each other, meaning if we remain consistent against the rest (remember we've only lost 3 this season) we should be in a strong position for that top 4 position and potentially quite a high one.
10/02/2018 Tottenham vs Arsenal
24/02/2018 Manchester United vs Chelsea
24/02/2018 Arsenal vs Manchester City
03/03/2018 Manchester City vs Chelsea
10/03/2018 Manchester United vs Liverpool
31/03/2018 Chelsea vs Tottenham
07/04/2018 Manchester City vs Manchester United
14/04/2018 Tottenham vs Manchester City
28/04/2018 Manchester United vs Arsenal
05/05/2018 Chelsea vs Liverpool
So basically there are 10 more games between the top 6 and only 2 which involve us. The key will be ensuring we pick up maximum points when our rivals play each other, as each time this happens one or both are guaranteed to lose ground on us.
Number of top 6 games left.
Man City 4 (2 home, 2 away)
Man Utd 4 (2 home 2 away)
Liverpool 2 (2 away)
Chelsea 4 (2 home 2 away)
Spurs 3 (2 home 1 away)
Arsenal 3 (1 home 2 away)
Interesting? Who knows. But I think we are in a decent position.

good theory.....
I wasn't one that thought that we were ****ed losing Sturridge and I actually think it might be better waiting for a proper replacement for Coutinho if the right player wasn't available in Jan (although he shouldn't have been left go if we couldn't replace him ffs)
However, I was at the match on Sunday and we looked ****in knackered. I thought that playing Milner and Hendo versus Huddersfield was a way of keeping the legs of Gini and Oxo fresh for a physical Spurs game. I was surprised when I saw both Milner and Henderson make the starting line-up - because Henderson just back from injury and Milner not being able to make it through 90mins in a Klopp central midfield.
If we get an injury to any of our front 3 then I think we are ****ed. And if it is Salah, then we are really ****ed

Yup, no ****s were given about Sturridge but no attacker was a real let down because as you say if we lose one of that front three the drop off is huge.Originally posted by frank the tank View Postgood theory.....

If we win our next match v West Ham at home we go second, with Chelsea away at Man U the day after. Spurs play away at Palace on the Monday.
We could also go 12points clear of Arsenal who will play on the League Cup Final, but whose next League game is Man City.
Could be a big weekend for us.Modifying post.

Since losing to Spurs in October, Liverpool have taken 41 from 54 available points in the league. That's an 18 game run of 2.28 points per game. Extrapolates to 87 points over 38 games. Most seasons, that's title-winning pace._____________________________________
Weak willed, Wank or do they have a masterplan?

With a bit more luck and composure we could have been comfortably second. We deserved the defeats but some of the draws are galling
Watford 93rd minute equaliser.
Newcastle away, Matip and Lovren parting like the red sea.
De Geas foot.
Solanke goal ruled out against WBA
Evertons nothing pen.
Chelsea fluke equaliser.
Collasping against Arsenal
Spurs pen.
