Roma vs Liverpool - Champions League Semi Final (2nd Leg)

My main worry tonight is that Roma will try everything to get one of us sent off. I hope that we start the game like we start every big game... helter skelter and blitz them. The best of teams cannot handle that pace and tempo & Roma looked terrified in the first leg they probably have never played against that tempo... it could and should have been 8 or 9. We will have problems if we start the game like we did City 2nd leg, silence the crowd early by either scoring early or stifling them. We cannot let them get momentum, the crowd will be hostile and I would say the stadium will be rocking. An early goal and they are ****ed or if they haven't got one by half time they will get desperate & might be easy to pick off on the counter.
Roma are in a tricky situation here because they have to come out and play & that tactic plays into our hands. We are one of, if not the best counter attacking side I have ever seen.. it's scary. This is why Real Madrid will have to think twice about how they play if we get through.
I'm going to the gym, downloaded Black Panther... that will keep me busy until game time.

This would be lovely if true. You can't beat a bit of, if it doesn't work try, try, and try again.Originally posted by The_weatherman View PostI saw that their coach intends to stick to their philosophy, he said that they just have to eradicate mistakes and jump on ours. If true, then he'll probably have them playing a high line again, unless he is throwing a curve ball.

Interesting, because the main mistake they needed to eradicate was how the manager had set out the team.
If they play a high line and three at the back, we are going to at the very worst create a lot of chances.Modifying post.

you asked...............
The referee for Liverpool's Champions League showdown at Roma has been announced – and the Reds have a 100% losing record under him.
Damir Skomina of Slovenia will take charge of Wednesday's semi-final second leg at the Stadio Olimpico, with Jurgen Klopp's side holding a 5-2 advantage from last week's first leg at Anfield.
Skomina has refereed Liverpool on three previous occasions, with the Reds losing every time.
The first was in the Champions League group stage in 2009, when Fiorentina won a dead rubber at Anfield 2-1.
nd Skomina's most recent match officiating the Reds was the first leg of the Europa League semi-final two years ago, when Klopp's men went down 1-0 at Villarreal.
Mind you, Roma could also have reasons to be fearful.
The referee has helmed two Roma games, neither of which the Italians have won – a 3-2 loss at Panathinaikos in the Europa League in 2010, and the 3-3 Champions League group draw at Chelsea earlier this season.

Has to be, only injury doubt I reckon is TAA with his dead leg. He was conspicuous by his absence from the training pics earlier in the week. If so then Clyne.Originally posted by Pablo View PostImpossible to concentrate on work now.
Is this the team we're expecting to start tonight then?
Karius
TAA
VVD
Lovren
Robertson
Henderson
Milner
Wijnaldum
Salah
Firmino
Mane
Any injury doubts I've missed?
These 11 have to pretty much play the entire match because there is **** all on the bench, other than maybe Clyne and Klavan coming on to help see us across the line.
I'd avoid any experimentation with the front three this week. As soon as Salah went off in the last game Roma begun to go forward.
EDIT: from the bastion of journalistic credibility the Metro.
Liverpool expect to be able to call on Sadio Mane, Jordan Henderson and Trent Alexander-Arnold against Roma tonight. The Reds trio have all been nursing injuries and Mane was forced to sit out the weekend Premier League fixture against Stoke. Liverpool have a three-goal lead heading into the second leg of the Champions League semi-final and will be boosted by Mane’s recovery.Last edited by Buzzo; 02-05-18, 02:11 PM.Modifying post.

To be far we have got Ox, Can, Lallana, Matip and Gomez all out. Midfield headaches if all available.Originally posted by labourRed View PostIt's weird that our line up is so predictable, it points to a massive lack of strength in depth. Something that we clearly need to address in the summer. Quite how we've got this far is remarkable and largely due to Salah having a wonder season. Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’
