Grabara on for Karius who, to be fair, didn't really put a foot wrong despite being sold a kipper by Moreno. Didn't have much to do mind.

Is it by and large a boring game? Sounds like it. Is Fabinho showing glimpses of being a quietly class player?

First was a bit dull. Better in the second half. Solanke is making good runs and dragging things about and Keita bounds forward at every opportunity. Woodburn and Lallana both creating things as well. It means there is generally more on. I very much liked Fabinho's easy passing style, effective and lack of fuss, very laconic.

"A decent workout". Bury are well drilled and worked hard to that was good.

First off Karius had very little to do but what he did do he didn't **** up and the fans behind the goal were nice to him which is good. Moreno is ever thus - 2 barnstorming runs, a brain fart and off to bed. Etc.

Few of the others looked a bit rusty - Robertson, Matip etc, but that's what this is for after all. I like Fabinho - his passing was great, and I really like Keita who is a proper livewire, getting involved in everything. Lovely stuff.

Grabara looked sound at the back although he got a few ironic cheers as well when he caught one so it looks like this is not going to be regarded as just a Karius/Mignolet issue and more a Liverpool disease this season.

Sturridge and Solanke look sharp, pretty sound at the back, Woodburn and Lallana looking good. No goals and a bit of a dirge but one step at a time and all that.

Had a kick about myself this afternoon, the heat was worse than last week when it was hotter, no breeze, just beating down. Hopefully the lads picked up a bit of fitness and shook some cobwebs off.

I paid a fiver for this and turned it off after five minutes. Looked nailed on to be an archetypal borefest friendly. Though looking forward to Blackburn.

I watched the replay of the 1st half & that was punishing to watch except for the revelation that is Curtis Jones. Wow this kid is something special & was clearly our best player for the 1st 45 mins.
