I think he's superbly talented and could be a huge player for us now and in the future. Hes got some development to go through but you cannot write him off now. hes only 21.

I think he lacks vision. For me that is his biggest weakness. Most of his passes seem to be sideways or backwards. He is not progressive enough with the ball.
I actually think the lack of vision is also the root cause of him holding onto the ball too long, or giving the ball away, he simply can't see the better options that someone like Thiago and Harvey Elliot can.

This would be my take alsoOriginally posted by RichC View PostFunny one for me, I actually think he had the creativity but we've tried to change him as a player and he now seems a little unsure of what he's supposed to do hence the delaying on the ball and not looking for the higher risk passes.

I think he's an attacking midfielder who has been pulled back into a deeper midfield role and is probably more wary of giving possession away deeper in the field so is looking for the safer passes.
For what it's worth I think with Diaz and Jota out he could do the left sided attacker role quite well. The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Totally agree mate. He’s a creative player being asked to be prime Gini wijnaldum. It’s not really his game but if that’s the midfield requirements then he has to adapt. But his talent is beyond question.Originally posted by RichC View PostFunny one for me, I actually think he had the creativity but we've tried to change him as a player and he now seems a little unsure of what he's supposed to do hence the delaying on the ball and not looking for the higher risk passes.[B]Sir Isaac Newton knew the universal law of karma - any action has its equal and opposite reaction.[B]

Had a bad start, but grew into the game. He's still painfully slow and ponderous on the ball.
Another one of those young players like Elliott and Carvalho that just doesn't seem to have a spot in our formation"When a man insults my country I insult him, by taking his woman" Tony Yeboah

I wouldn't go so far as to say he did "well". He was ok IMO. Didn't really do a lot, didn't create much, held onto the ball for far too long at times, didn't hit the target when shooting, heading. A standard Jones game really. Nunez would be getting pelters if the shoe was on the other foot"When a man insults my country I insult him, by taking his woman" Tony Yeboah

For a youngster coming back into a disjointed side after a decent lay off , that’s been shifted around since returning I’d say he’s done well in this match. I’m not his biggest fan & honestly thought he’d be better off sent out on loan this season if we’d had enough players to allow that but this season must be his chance to prove he’s worthy of his jersey. I wonder if he wasn’t home grown if things would be different?Originally posted by Harv View PostI wouldn't go so far as to say he did "well". He was ok IMO. Me, I’m either planning a holiday or I’m on one.
