Yeh we've grabbed the points but the last two games we've been pretty poor against average opposition. Hopefully a step up in opponents will see a step up in our performances too.Originally posted by spud_gun View Post

Firmino rightly gets praised for lots of things other than scoring, and even assisting. This is the flip side of the same coin, simple as that. Nothing unreasonable about it.Originally posted by spud_gun View PostIf you're a forward and you score a goal then you've had a good game irrespective of what you do for the remainder of your time on the pitch
Like Salah he has contributed nicely so far in terms of output but not shown the same levels of performance we've been accustomed to. Early days, it will click I'm sure, but it's fair to point out this hasn't happened yet. It's not a damning criticism, it's a straightforward observation.
I'm not worried as though we're dire or some nonsense, but we should absolutely be feeling we need to step things up from what we saw today. Controlling games and winning in relative comfort is where the bar is now for us in the vast majority of games. We clearly won't always hit that, sure, but on those occasions we should be looking to rectify things. We can't be waiting to drop points before feeling anything needs to improve. That sort of mentality doesn't get you to a title.Originally posted by spud_gun View Post

Of course he's had a good game.Originally posted by Pepe79 View PostSo if a striker was to misplace every pass, miss 2 tap ins, give away a dozen free kicks and get caught off side 6 times and screw up every other attack. But also score once. He’s had a good game, has he?
Scoring trumps everything else.

This year we have started with some good-average performances and we are unbeaten.
It is very encouraging.
I think we're good enough now in some of the areas we used to be very weak that it hasn't hurt. We look much more resilient and assured these days. When the chemistry up front is back it's going to be something
Gomez has been properly good in Lovren's absence
I think we missed Keita though. With Ox injured, he's so important to get the balance right in the midfield.Like blood on iron

Very happy with the win. We dug deep and got there in the end. Alisson, will no doubt learn from his error. He'll have to realise very quickly he won't get time on the ball in the prem as you do in Italy.
I still think the balance of the midfield is not right. The combination today didn't really work. I also think Klopp made the right decision taking Henderson off for Keita. He wasn't the worse player on the pitch but the fact that he can't play on the half turn and often plays the ball back in the direction it came from does hinder us a little and can sometimes put our players under pressure.
I know I've said it but we really miss Oxlade-Chamberlain. I'm looking forward to seeing how Klopp works out what our best midfield combo is. I would like to see Fabinho, Wijnaldum and Keita in the future but as of right now Milner is deserves to keep his shirt.

Odd thing about that game was that we were in total control until a really sloppy pass from wijnaldum. Nveee really seemed to recover from that for the rest of the game as possession was turned on its head.
Leicester closed us down and made it difficult but this could happen in every game from now until the end of the season so we really need to make sure we’re on it from now on. As i said before, maybe it’s partly an away midday kick off symptom.

Was he? He started before the game actually started and a lot of his criticism came in the first half when we were the better team.
Not quite sure how his criticism of today's game was deserved or should be just taken, when he was at it before a ball was kicked.I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.

I haven't watched what he said before the game so cannot comment on that. We started being poor after 25 mins or so and Leicester took over control after that until the last 20 minutes of the game. I was certainly not impressed by what I've seen bar the obvious improvement in our defending but it was the first time this season that we've failed to control a game by dominating possession. I'd expected that against the top 3, but not against Leicester, even though they're an ever improving team. We won't be able to get away with this after the international break if we don't improve.Originally posted by Jaco_Pastorious View PostWas he? But I'm being overly negative here. We're top of the league and conceded once this season, so it's probably just a blip. Are we winning?
