I think going top changes things a bit, so far everyone has been talking about how great City are and we have to a certain extent flown under the radar, we have been having to keep pace with them, now we are ahead of them, we are the ones looking over our shoulder and feeling the pressure. City are still favorites, but IMO us being top changes the dynamic a little, there is a bit more pressure on us than before.

More pressure on City too though, they're used to having a comfy buffer between them and the rest of the league. Utd were their closest rivals last season too which must've been a bigger incentive than us nearestOriginally posted by Exiled_red View PostI think going top changes things a bit, so far everyone has been talking about how great City are and we have to a certain extent flown under the radar, we have been having to keep pace with them, now we are ahead of them, we are the ones looking over our shoulder and feeling the pressure. Given the choice between us winning the league and City winning it, I think most United fans would prefer City winning it, because it's been so long since we won it and we are closer to their record
of titles than City
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

We just need to keep approaching each game the way we are.
The squad look incredibly focused, last season though unsuccessful will hopefully help us in terms of attitude as (if) pressure mounts.
Look at the points we have won late on this season. Sturridge s late howitzer, Mahrez missed pen (points for us and points taken from our rivals). Origis goal.
We are in a great place right now, with no real weaknesses to the squad. How we respond to adversity when it strikes will be crucial.Modifying post.

I would disagree that there is more pressure. Everyone knew if we drew against Everton the league was basically over and that was more or less the same for every game. That's a lot of pressure. After yesterdays results we now have that bit of breathing space that of we lose one or draw one and still have our fate in our own hands.Originally posted by Exiled_red View PostI think going top changes things a bit, so far everyone has been talking about how great City are and we have to a certain extent flown under the radar, we have been having to keep pace with them, now we are ahead of them, we are the ones looking over our shoulder and feeling the pressure. It’s weird but ‘that’ Rafa side was a title winning one for sure in my eyes. Hicks and Gillette + MachedaOriginally posted by Jaco_Pastorious View PostUnder Rafa I never really thought we were going to win the league. I hoped we could but always had doubts.
Under Rodgers we had that one season where I thought we might if things went our way.
But this season does feel different, this season does not feel like a might nor is it just a hope. This season it feels like we can and that we have the pieces in place to mount a serious tilt at the title for the entire season. It also feels a season in which we can decide it for ourselves rather than hoping for other teams to fall away.
I am sure there will be a few blips along the way, but unlike other seasons I am expecting us to just keep ploughing on after those blips.
****ed us there.
The Rodgers one - it felt like the stars aligned and our name was on it then we bottled Chelsea at home. When we beat City I was convinced and even more so when I saw Jose field his reserves.......what ever happened to Tomas Maldini Kalas!!
This season - City just seem to have too many good players and we haven’t ‘clicked’ and.....and...... I think I almost want to talk myself out of it for fear of major disappointment.
Recent weeks though have shown signs of being decisive in vital moments and we now have real charcters in the team. VVD and Alisson being far better than I could have imagined - Nab and Fab ready to kick on after being eased in, one season Salah being top of the scoring charts again.......one thing for sure is I don’t think we’ll bottle it. If we can stay lucky with injuries we have a bloody good chance of it.....

Chelsea beating city in the "El Plastico" has given us hope and proven they are not invincible.
They have also had a few wobbles against lower teams that have had a go so maybe others will realise its better to go down fighting rather than just to roll over and self lube.
No doubt we will also have a few wobbles and also drop points, we just have to be as strong as possible and now we are more solid at the back we are in the best possible position to grab our chance.removing all the weak links makes us stronger
too many gutless players, no beef or desire. pussies everywhere... sack them all.

Our depth is the difference this time. We had a great 11 under Rafa but after that it wasn’t the same. Plus Koop seems to offer a different mentality than Rafa which feeds the belief in everyone.Originally posted by Irishnev View PostIt’s weird but ‘that’ Rafa side was a title winning one for sure in my eyes. We certainly have more depth than that Rafa side but if VVD, Salah or Robbo was injured for a period of time we’d see.Originally posted by peterbread View PostOur depth is the difference this time. City have missed KDB for most of the season and yesterday aside they’ve been fine. With the exception of Fernandinho they are equally strong with most back ups.

City have had quite a few injuries, we've been lucky really.
I think they are starting to feel the impact of no Debruyne by playing Silva (32) and not rotating Fernandinho (33) so often. If Debruyne was in Gundogan would be given more time.
The way we have been playing at a lower tempo and expecting to win the game at some point in 90 minutes or 96.
They have been blowing teams away in the first half, and you could see they had nothing left in the second half. Need teams to give them a full game and hope their legs go.
All the pressure is on them despite us being top, massive favorites and defending champions. I think we've given ourselves a nice bit of leeway if we do drop some points that we'll still be in it. Anything under 5 behind after we play them is acceptable. I'm going with 7 ahead though
