We were really good today watching it back.

We had the chances to win by 4 or 5 easily.

Spurs are a decent team, regular top 4, so to dismiss them so easily is really impressive.

And that is without our forwards really gelling.

    Onwards and upwards.
    Modifying post.

Yup. Commented on that passage in the match thead, it would have been an incredible tesm goal.

Been drinking since half an hour before kick off. ****ing marvellous. Was so frustrated we made a bit of a meal of it in the end, should have and would have loved to have done them 0-5 ffs. But a ****ing great win. We're the actual proper real deal for the first time since, imo, Rafa's 08/09 team. It says something that I'm irritated as hell about the two goals we've conceded all season - both thoroughly avoidable and should never have happened. Knowing we've got several gears to move into is incredibly exciting.

Oh - and James Milner. What a player. To think there was a debate about whether we should've signed him at all ffs. Amazing. Just getting better and better at 32.

I'm tipping Mane to be our player of the season unless Milner can manage this level for the entire season.
I'm thinking something similar with Mane. Have a feeling he's just going to get better and better. Think he's going to have a few of those games where he can't control the ball and gives away possession constantly but will somehow score out of nothing or provide a magic assist.

100% agree. Potentially a really exciting season.

On James Milner, I have to hold my hand up, was so wrong about him. Really didn't want him, thought he was an okay wide midfield workhorse and he won me over at fullback. Was bleak when he went back into midfield but he's been sensational. I've seen a few people saying that he's on his last legs, but I'm confident that couldn't be further than truth. Pretty confident he has another 2 seasons in him, minimum. Still plenty left in his legs for now. Given his start at the club, perhaps wasn't the best, but he's more than made up for it.

I missed the game due to work. I've read the reports.

How did we actually play? Was it 3rd gear? Did we show glimpses of our best form or did we just do enough?

Gomez will be some player. He will make mistakes but his calmness on the ball and reading of the game is superb for someone so young.

The challenge will come when we start rotating. I also think we still need to improve in our retention of the ball and how we sustain the pressure on the opponent. And we should have had a clean sheet and scored more. It cost us first place.

Our organisation and our calmness in defensive situations is the area where we've improved the most.
              Are we winning?

It was a very comfortable game but the last 5 minutes were nervy due to the goal we conceded and also for not having put the game to bed. We should have been 4 or 5 nil up.

For most of the game we controlled it though, especially tactically where we pounced on their mistakes. Our pressing was very good.

I don't think it was 3rd gear but we should have won by far more because we wasted so many chances and took so many wrong decisions offensively.

I think in a way conceding those goals will help to keep us grounded, if we'd been won 5 games without conceding a goal I think that there might be a tendency to get carried away. Conceding those goals has shown that we won't have things our own way and that we have to work for the full 90mins
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

I think we saw more selfishness than we've seen before, Mane and Salah in particular seemed too eager to score, if they had been show more a team ethos we'd have won it. Could see Klopp benching one of them soon.

Otherwise we were great, well set up and should have scored a couple more.

Special shout-out to Jamie Redknapp, who was insufferable with his 'extra analysis', and seeking approval from Gary Neville after every comment.

Souness talked a fair bit of **** too. The fact he couldn't even tell teh difference between VVD and Gomez, even when prompted is pretty unacceptable for a pundit.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

We did win it though, but we could have by 4 or 5 easily it's not great seeing players looking to get themselves onto the score sheet rather than finding a teammate. It's cost us before. It's not often that you get the opportunity to stuff Spurs by several goals at their place, would have been great to see. And g.d. is worth one extra point at the end of the season...

5 games and 5 wins for the first time since 1990 and all with is not getting out of 3rd gear imo.
