The standard of play is so poor compared to the men's game I actually find it quite hard to watch. This will probably change as time goes on but I think they have a huge gulf to bridge before a lot of footie fans find themselves actually getting in to it.It's easy to distract fat people. It's a piece of cake.

The deal is reportedly worth £8 million.
Personally, I have no interest in watching it, for pretty much the same reason I don’t watch non-league football. The standard is poor, and it takes more than them wearing Liverpool kits, they’re not my team and I couldn’t give a **** really. Even the world champions USA women’s team struggle against high school boys teams, so I’m not convinced it will ever get to a level that would be worth watching for entertainment over other leagues and competitions.
I want women’s football to provide girls and women the opportunity to play the game, but whether it becomes a successful spectator sport is not something that concerns me.Trey Nyoni: countdown to stardom-2 years1year0.5 years

That was the point i was trying to make.Originally posted by Tribute View Post...but there isn't, so they won't.
Originally posted by Shaggy View PostIt's pretty poor what's happened with the women's team at LFC. Only today a big announcement is being made re a new TV deal with Sky and the BBC, and yet we're lagging behind. It's a bad look.
My main personal issue with this is...and there must be others in the same boat....
...I'm all for greater exposure and investment in the women's game, and far greater inclusivity in junior/grassroots football, but....I don't watch it. I'm not interested in it.
I suppose that might change as more money goes into it and the standard gets better. I watched most of the England games in the last World Cup, and I enjoyed it, but to be completely honest I've never watched LFC's women's team and I could count on two hands the amount of women's games I've watched in my life.
To all points.

Took my daughter to a City v United game at the start of last season.
I think it cost a total of £7 and we sat in some fancy padded seats at the Etihad. I believe there was about 22k in that day.
To be honest, novelty factor we had a nice father/daughter afternoon out.
It wasn't a good game, the standard was poor, it was slow, lots of misplaced passes and just a single goal.
It's great that it'll be shown on the Beeb and Sky with this new deal but it isn't going to make a dent on the men's game.James Philip Milner Fanclub #1

They also got a rather corrupt entry in to the top league, despite not winning the Premier League (league below the top league) and coming 4th. The most successful womens team, the Doncaster Bells, were booted out to be replaced by Man City because they were better resourced. The investment promises were a condition of being parachuted in. Typical City, doing nothing to earn ther position.Originally posted by Fredo View PostYep.
City's women team train at the same facilities as the men. They have a much more coherent strategy than ours.Trey Nyoni: countdown to stardom-2 years1year0.5 years

Hum, it's totally irrelevant to the conversation. The conversation is around LFC women's team being left behind and in total limbo compared to the other elite women's teams.Originally posted by Kenneth View PostThey also got a rather corrupt entry in to the top league, despite not winning the Premier League (league below the top league) and coming 4th. Where women's football is important, is in inspiring young girls to get into the game. I know that girls in my sons class all went to watch Scotland's women's team when they last played. It was great to hear that they had their own idols, Erin Cuthbert, and were excited about seeing her play.
I don't think that their market is in converting men who already watch football towards the game (though that may happen in time) it is in appealing to the young girls coming through with a massive passion for football and then showing them that if they are good, then their is a future in the game for them.
My sons school team has a girl in it, and she is probably the best player. It is not unusual in any way for the kids to play with girls, and one thing they will all know is that when the playing field was level physically, then girls could mix it with the best of them, and this is very different from when I was a kid.
So, it is important that their is investment in women's football, and it is totally ok to not feel obliged to watch it. I have no real interest either, nor time.Last edited by Buzzo; 22-03-21, 06:33 PM.Modifying post.
