Winning it (the league cup) would be great, but the next best thing is going out at the first hurdle. Would rather it wasn't to Chelsea but we have a chance to make amends at the weekend. Win that and it will have been a great week.

Obviously it would be good to win last night, and honestly, I thought we deserved to, but I totally agree. This frees up time for Klopp tp focus on more important games as well as the squad. Come the semi finals the amount of games becomes a real ball ache.Originally posted by Kenneth View PostWinning it would be great, but the next best thing is going out at the first hurdle. Normally I am all for going for it in the cups, and ironically most people are all about CL qualification. Now that we look competitive in the League and the CL then something has to give.
Ultimately it was a chance for some of them to stake a claim for more game time, and nobody really did.
We need to get back to winning ways on Saturday, a win there will be a real statement of intent.Modifying post.

Normally I'm weirdly relieved when we get knocked out of the league cup. We don't normally have the squad to cope with all the matches, so it's a blessing in disguise.
Not this year though. We've finally got the squad to cope and Klopp getting his first trophy would really given us a springboard. Gutted.

Going out of the FA cup was a blessing in disguise last year. That 10 day break the players had in February and the training camp abroad really benefited the players and helped keep the team fresh for the run in.Originally posted by Buzzo View PostObviously it would be good to win last night, and honestly, I thought we deserved to, but I totally agree. As much as I'd like to have progressed last night, I'm not too disappointed. While it would have been nice to get some more game time for our fringe players, it was still a distraction. We have a tough game away to Arsenal just after the next round, so I'd rather have a week to prepare fully for that than a couple of days after the cup match. The next round is sandwiched between United at home and Wolves away, which will be two tough games. Obviously the two semis in January are a ballache as you say, considering the fixture congestion that time of year. Then the final is the same weekend we are scheduled to play United, so that big game would have to be rescheduled midweek some time which isn't ideal either. If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

Hmmm. He's the easy target. We were not good enough as a team, especially defensively and retention of the ball for long periods. Utter toilet? If he was that bad, do you think Klopp would have kept him so long?Originally posted by foresterbloke View PostMoreno is utter toilet. He's no better defensively than your mate that played football with his hands in his trouser pockets. Are we winning?
