That was a tough away CL game. Not saying City will be easy but a home league match will make a difference.

True. I would expect to see a much better performance at Anfield but City are much better than Napoli!

I posted earlier in the thread some of the issues I've seen tonight I've seen for a few games now.

      It's not a one off
      ****ing hell

The best start to a League campaign in our history. Unbeaten in 7. 6 wins and a draw and beating PSG at home in the CL, Spurs away in the League. The main issues we’ve had is not converting the myriad of chances we’ve created.

Full strength team, play absolute ****e and lose game. Couldn't be any worse.

Pitch was a shocker. But we created **** all. Nothing. Why wait so long for the 3rd sub?

Better team won, and we are possibly a bit lucky that Napoli did not make their play pay of more for themselves.

Gomez I thought played well, and maybe Alisson and Robertson (well for the most part of Robbo) did alright.

VVD had probably his worst game for us, and everyone else ranged between abverage to ineffective.

Hard game as well physically with pretty much our starting XI, given we have a massive game come Sunday. But a good result against City will change moods and have us feeling a lot more optimistic again.

Yes we’ve made a fantastic start to the season but as fans we are entitled to moan. He’ll probably roll the same 11 out vs City this weekend when Milner clearly looks like he needs a rest.
I think maybe we should have freshened things up for this game. Not too many changes but maybe Shaquiri for Salah and Sturridge for Mane. That would have meant we would have been a bit more pragmatic. Still far from being a disaster this.

Napoli were great at disrupting our game, never let us settle - they defended very well, out pressed and out played us all over the pitch

Even not being at our best by far tonight, we could easily have gone home with a draw. I don't think there are issues. We need to be a bit smarter though. We'll be back.

I'd been calling for us to sign Koulibaly but VVD and Gomez have been equally as good this season.

time to drop salah. there, its been said. bring him on for the last 10 after shaq has destroyed city.

A draw would be a solid result, One eye on city and 2 tough games vs Chelsea. Completely understandable why we are not at races in that first half. Pitch killing both teams too.
Klopp just said that we had to run too much and the game was intense and we 'caused the intensity of the game ourselves'. Not sure what game you were watching really. I thought since the beginning we allowed them to press and harry us and we played at their pace. You cannot do this in away games. We need far better control.

our midfield was a little scattered, wijnaldum giving the ball away for fun, milner struggling to cover the space, salah not dropping back so trent left all exposed and then often getting dragged out of position.
we should have played shaq instead of salah to give us the better balance defensively and then allow our midfield more time on the ball, less running around putting fires out.

alisson got a finger tip to knock the shot from mertens onto the bar, unbelievable.

Why turn up with a defensive mindset- looking to pinch it - but still play you’re first choice front 3 the whole way? Just run them into the ground chasing scraps. Nothing about this set up/ tactics made sense.

Have to agree. Just hope the team behind klopp have a strong enough voice to be heard.
