Pennants first touch was dreadful last night. Couldn't trap a bag of cement.

He's so low on confidence it's unreal. Probably doesn't help playing out on the wing where he can hear all the stick - which he is deservedly given.

We wont miss him.

I think Pennant was very good in the first half. Gave us a bit of a threat and took on his man a few times. Been a while since I have seen a Liverpool player get to the byline past three men and deliver a half decent cross. I though there were a few good signs from him tonight.

He seemed to get a couple of knocks to his leg earlier and I think he was playing throught it. He got hit in the face and I think he had just had a bit of a bettering all round - mostly bad luck rather than being doen over mind.

Sums up what I thought as well. In the first half he showed what he can do, he even won the the ball by himself a couple of times.
He was getting poorer and poorer towards the end, but it could be that he was knackered.

What he really needs is a goal, or a assist to get his confidence going.

Some of you on here are glad that he is unavailable, even a bit happy that he is injured!! Some even go as far as saying he was faking the injury!!! FFS!!!!!!!!!

Pennant was one of our better players last night especially in the first half.

But some people, inbelieveably, want him to get injured and to be unsuccessful.

There was a brief period in the game when he was really buzzing - he raced back and got the ball and set up a great counter attack .I could actually see that he was fast!

The problem is it makes you wonder why he can only do that for 10 mins or so. If I were Rafa I'd tell him to give it his all and sub him when he burns out

He has no aggression or fire ( not quite Kronkamp level but same issue). I don't know how you instill that

Pennant reminds me so much of Heskey. Just does not seem to be up for the fight. No fire in his belly.
When the going gets tough, dont expect him to be standing next to you.
to be champions you need players who are winners and have that nasty streak. Looks like the main reason Wenger got shot of him to me

yep I said it at the time in the match thread.

The crowd had just got on his back for loosing the ball again, then what followed was pretty much a nothing challenge where he was clipped by the opposing players arm. He held his face as if looking for a free kick from it, then when he was being ignored, started to put his hand on his hamstring.

Now maybe it was a delayed reaction or something, but it just looked very convenient, is all I'm saying, as if he just wanted to get off the pitch.

That's how I saw it too - he looked like he'd decided he'd had enough.

I though he had one or two excellent moments, but he lost the ball an awful lot and rarely made much of an effort to win it back - the one time he did he put in a great cross - why he doesn't do that more often is puzzling...

He lost the ball a lot trying things in the right areas. He looked lacking in confidence and did need to get back to cover more (although after a bollocking from Stevie mid way through his stint in the second half he seemed to improve). I think it is the lack of confidence that means that he looks like he lacks fire.

People should get behind him more for the good stuff he does. If Stevie had beaten three players and whipped in a cross everyone would have been raving about it. Gerrard has been nearly as poor as Pennant this season and has also seemed to lack fight. We need to try and build our players up rather than weighing them down.

I hope he recovers soon and gets a few games under his belt. I think he does have something to add for us but if he doesn't find a little bit of confidence soon then we will probably have to write him off as never going to step up.

You think he never faked injury? Look at the pictures again the PSV player never even touched him.
