It's not a virtue but people are entitled to their opinions whether they be right or wrong. The fact of the matter is the only person who can prove the doubters wrong and change their opinion is Jermaine Pennant himself. Some people thought he played well last night and some didn't. I thought he made 2 or 3 decent runs but after that his touch, movement and most of all his hunger left a lot to be desired. I'm not happy he's injured because I don't wish that on any player for any team, especially one of our own, unless his name is Gary Neville.

I hope he comes good I genuinely do but he's going to have to work a lot harder in future if he is going to succeed.

      Ah, that sounds better, mate.
I just get sick of folks jumping on the back of some of our new signings. Its almost as they dont want them to succeed. It gets right on my tits.

I thought he was hot and cold last night, but then again, he is a winger and making dribbles and runs makes for more mistakes than just defending or running about. I think he is a bit like Gonzalez, too eager to do well and they both end up getting too tense and trying too hard.

That's exactly how I saw it. He showed little flashes but not enough, and he didnt seem to have the desire from very early on. I personally I think he could be a good player for us if he sorts his head out, I think it's a confidence thing with him. I think it'd make a difference if people really got behind him. There seemed to a real negative attitude towards him from where I was sat (lower cent).

I keep seeing people saying he needs to work harder but everytime I watch him play he is constantly traacking back and closing down the left back.

Some people on here are determined to put him down, I remember after the reading game in the league cup there was a couple of posts praising his performance and someone posted something like 'come on guys havent we already agreed hes ****'.The thing is I cant understand what he has done wrong apart from have a lack of confidence along with a few other players.

I think he started well the other night but then when he made a couple of mistakes the crowd started getting on his back and he lost his confidence.

I dont know what happened with him getting injured but I wonder would there be as much said about it if it was a different player.

I honestly can't say I saw that at all on Wednesday. Not saying he was lazy but he wasn't putting any more than "average" effort.
