Would be a very effective option on the left. Consistent, good delivery and an accomplished defender. Would certainly add balance to the team.

Aye, I like Barry too. His one, glaring weakness is a dire lack of pace but aside from that he's a good player. Very surprised he's not been in more England squads. Good footballer, combative, strong defensively....I'd take him.

I suspect we are stil interested but with Seville's success this season I think we need to be looking at other options.

If they get into the CL then it is a very attractive option for him to stay and Seviile were holding out for £14 or so anyway. I'm not convinced that we can afford to pay that much for a right back anyway, but as he is having another great season I would expect he would be worth more next season.

I guess it depends on wether some of the signings we made this year turn it round. Otherwise I think we will need another three players which will pretty much rule out the possibility of any of them being a really big money signing.

I too would love to see Alves as he looks like a really world class talent, however I think the chances are receeding.

Eric Djemba-Djemba, Joey Barton, Darren Fletcher, John O'Shea, Nigel Reo-Coker... Those would be surprise signings! Negatives one, but a surprise is a surprise

As the 4th choice Midfielder surely Barton or Reo Coker offer more than Zenden??? I'd be very happy with either of these players. I think Barton has the talent to become a real enforcer in midfield given the right coaching and environment plus he gives a teram goals from midfield which none of Momo, Zenden or even Xabi do!!

why fill the squad with 2 mediocre players - when we can have the real article for the same money? Sometimes you've got to pay the going rate - or end up with a second choice replacement.

But you have to balance out the need for class players with the impact that they would have. The danger of an attcking fullback in a side with other weaknesses (particularly in the wide midfield area) is that you never get the most out of them and so in effect you have only got a second rate player anyway.

If Pennant and Gonzales come good then I think that Alves will be our number one priority but otherwise i think we will be priced out (assuming he even wants to come to us).

I'm not saying that IMO, all these are up to LFC standard but they would come under the category of surprise signing, i sussope.

I'll stick to the English leagues.. and with our budget(realistic)
