I think it suits us. St Mary's is hardly known for being a hostile ground, so a bit of atmosphere will probably help us, rather than a dead early KO when both teams struggle to get going. 5 days between matches is probably perfect too, enough time to rest properly, but not too long between games to lose momentum. Obviously a bonus before Porto too.

Bit of a f*cker for the travelling support though.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

3 and half years since Klopp took us to Southampton in a 6-1 win, none of starting 11 will be starting for us on Friday but 2 of theirs will be.

Definitely better than midday on a Saturday

I echo the sentiments of this being our toughest game left. Their new manager seems to have removed pressure and fear from the players - and it shows.

Having said all of that, we have a solid core now. I can't see us not scoring there with our attacking threat.

Regarding line ups, I wouldn't be too surprised to see Dejan get a game. And I hope that the midfield gets a refurb too.

Lovren away to Southampton who will bay his every touch - Christ no! Matip has been v good in this run next to VVD, to break it up for Dejan is madness

For me we have 10 bankers and one spot up for grabs in midfield - Gini, Fab + one other.

I thought Gini was awful yesterday, think a rest would do him good and i'd like to see us go more offensive as they'll park the bus and play for breaks/set pieces

            -TAA----Matip--VVD--Robertson
            ------Milner---Fabinho
            -Mane----Firmino---Origi
            -----------Salah

Its dificult to look good in a midfield with two other who are under performing. With regard to playing a more offensive team Gini is excellent in an advanced midfield role

I would like us to start with Fab, Gini and Big Shaq in the middle against Southampton

Fab and Gini should be bankers imo and I do think we will see Lallana start too.

Milner has been a bit up and down form wise recently. I thought Henderson had a good first half v Spurs, we lost the midfield battle tactically in the second half.

                  I’d go Fab/Gino/Hendo

I would prefer us to go all out offensive and bury them in the first 20 mins, cruise to half time and then bring on the plodders Milner and Henderson to see the game out

Yeah, not sure the nerves are good for the players energy levels. Close games out early and then cruise around carefree for 70 mins

Surely that would be the tactic for every game if it were that easy

How are Southampton likely to approach this? Park the bus for a vital point or press us higher to catch us by surprise? I would guess at the former but they're at home and might want to continue their attacking momentum.

Which is why I'm expecting a conservative midfield from Klopp again.

Would be nice for Salah to get into some form for the run in.
