They qualified for the competion like us and all the other teams. They made it through the group stages after seemingly being all but out. They had some great results over two legs in knock out stages. For me they were worthy opponents and even small teams deserve a break occasionally

This is why I really wanted Ajax.Originally posted by Exiled_red View PostEverytime I see this thread there is still one thing that I can't get my head around, I've had weeks for it to make sense but it still doesn't, we beat Tottenham to win our 6th European Cup. Tottenham, I mean WTF? Tottenham making the CL final still just doesn't make sense to me.
Literally, having a bland, boring club like Spurs in the final spoilt the build-up for me, and also, the prospect of losing against them.
I'm just glad we got the job done.

Poor *******s must be having such a flat summer after that. They know they'll probably never get there again. I can't wait for our first game against them, I think they'll be a nice spirit between the fans, and then we'll sing Allez Allez non stop throughout the gameOriginally posted by Exiled_red View PostEverytime I see this thread there is still one thing that I can't get my head around, I've had weeks for it to make sense but it still doesn't, we beat Tottenham to win our 6th European Cup. Yeah that bit is a bit surreal.

I really enjoyed hearing the ref stuff (not the Croatian conversation obviously which I could only guess at, although correctly as it happens - thanks Fuzzy).
It's high time they followed other sports and broadcast it for everyone to hear. I reckon the likes of the PL are scared that our high esteem for professional footballers
might be tarnished if we knew what they were saying to the ref'.
Let's face it, that ship has already sailed. Who could possibly think they are genuinely still protecting the players from accusations that many are foul mouthed morons merely by preventing us from hearing from them directly? In fact wouldn't their demeanour improve if they knew we could hear them?

For anyone curious, the ref locker room conversation at HT was something like this;
"He [Sissoko] had it [arm] like this, right?"
-"Even straighter than that."

Lallana on the phone on the pitch...."Alright Dad it's me".....****ing ace.

Yeah that’s brilliant.
Some dramatic license on how the corner was won that Divock scores from though
I may have watched the last ten mins of the game a few times.

Fantastic stuff......we should do that every year.
In fact, the CL campaign should just be played to see who gets to play us in the final.

Holy ****, that's the best one yet.
The feels on that moment between Robbo and Milner. Big Virge's realisation that we'd one it. Alisson at the end with his family.
Still lovely stuff.
