    Fernando Torres retires

If anyone objects, fine, move it or delete it. But he was incredible for us, I think most of us have forgiven him, and with not much else to talk about I think he deserves his own thread.

Let's fill this with his great goals and images.

I adored him, and I'll never forget that feeling of him running riot at Old Trafford and destroying Vidic over and over again.

Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

He was brilliant for us, everything we now need in a front man.

No hard feelings for him. Thank you Fernando for many great moments at LFC.

Easily the highest profile signing we have ever made. We’ve bought players and turned them into stars, but he turned up as one. Probably one of the darkest days when he announced he was quitting.

Remember that first goal v Chelsea like it was yesterday. Love that feeling of knowing we are witnessing something special. He had the lot as a CF, pace, could score either foot, decent in the air, could handle himself... and dashing good looks()

There were obviously other better and more important goals, but this one always seems to be forgotten about. I think it was a meaningless end of season encounter, and has been lost.

It's vintage Torres. You know when he got someone one v one in that channel, he was dancing round them and slotting it. Reminiscent of the goal v Chelsea on his home debut when he squared up Ben Haim (was it?) and roasted him.

Big pity when he left. Big pity the way he left as well. I wonder was it his big regret? For such a talent, I'm not sure he managed his career that well.

The big regret for me is that we never got to see Torres and Suarez play together. With Stevie behind them, that would have been electric.

Someone asked a question on Twitter the other day - what was the biggest statement signing by liverpool ever.

Sure we paid world records for VVD and Alisson recently but signing Torres was it. Any club in the world would have been improved by him and he could have had his pick yet we signed him.

He wasn't a typical Spanish player, he 'struggled' a bit in the tiki taka Spanish national side where he had no space to run into but he took to the premier league like a duck to water. He was made for it and another player who seemed made for us - the whole armband thing was a brilliant sub plot.

Him and Gerrard were also made for each other, their instinctive link up play and goals were of the very highest level. I was devastated when he left but know hindsight he was already physically broken and we did well from the deal ONLY signing Suarez.

For some reason the 4-0 vs Madrid stands out in my head, what a player he was for us.

The turn past Cannavaro for that first chance that Casillas saves is absolute filth.

As a Spaniard and a Red i absolutely adored this bloke and was truly gutted when he bailed on us despite him being crocked. I still look back on those goals a can't help but smile, but there's still that feeling of resentment there for me.
