I watched Atleti extensively the years before we signed him and was convinced he was hype job. If you take his performances and stats outside of Liverpool, they are pretty ordinary. Some players are meant to play for certain teams and Torres at Liverpool was incredible. Fell in love with him the moment when Terry chopped him down from behind in that Chelsea game and started screaming in his ear. Torres responded by slapping/patting him on his cheek, it was brilliant. He had some panache, couple with his acceleration and finishing was class.

We also sold him when he was absolutely broken for a top fee which sweetens the circumstances that he left. We really had him for his prime years. I can't believe he turned out more for Chelsea than he did for us.

There were so many great goals but I always remember his volley against Blackburn, that was outrageous.

The goal against Marseille was possibly my favourite, he just glided past 3-4 players.

Am in Estonia 🇪🇪 but wanted to check in to show some respect. My first of 2 ever mancrushes. I forgave him a long time age. Very much a fading force when we sold him but was still scoring 1 in 2.
            3rd place. Worst champions ever.

              100%

Suarez was scouted and signed to play with Torres. They would have been unreal together with Stevie supplying the ammo.

Nah - Torres was already **** by then.

At his peak, an amazing player. Godlike. But such a short peak. And a massive wedge on cash in. Kthxbye.

Let's keep things in perspective though, most of that massive wedge of cash was spent on Andy Carroll

Has forgotten his best goals to game ratio was in that awful 09/10 season. Guess IÂ’d blocked that season out my mind.

I was a bit doubtful, but soooo glad to be proved wrong.

Although the fact he also struggled at Chelsea makes me think that actually the reason FT was brilliant for us just further underscores the extent of SG's incredible quality.

100% this, but then Stevie made most players around him look better than they actually were

Plus the 2 injuries to the same knee in early 2010. He was always going to go downhill after those, whoever he was playing for.
