What goes on between U-21 (for which read average age of 22) and senior football? How do we win this, but never get close to a WC? Anyway, well done Harv, Tyler and Jarrel. Gonna make some second rate teams very happy.
      Really?

The under 21 teams are a group of players born within about 18 months of each other. Senior teams will have players aged across a range of 15 years or more.

Also, there are teams that have young players that are too good for u21 football. Liverpool just paid over 100m for a fella that is younger than the player of the tournament. Spain have a 17 year old that is too good for u21 football!!!

England are a team on the up though. 2 finals in recent tournaments. The final step is the hardest though and although they could win a tournament - like Denmark, Greece and Italy have in the last 30 years or so, I don't think they have the quality of a team that can dominate for 4 to 6 years......like France 98 and Spain that won a few tournaments.

Getting back to Elliott, he is a very talented footballer. But I can't see a scenario where he features as a starter in a Slot team. When you look at Gravenberch, he has clearly benefited from the arrival of Slot. Harvey is the exact opposite - if jurgen had stayed on, then I think Elliott would certainly have had a future as a Liverpool player. I wonder would a 2 year loan - or a sale with an option to buy back for 10m extra in 2 years be a good shout though? Mo will be finished his contract then (although I wouldn't be surprised if he signs another 1 year extension then tbh) and if Elliott goes somewhere and starts to fulfill his potential, then there is a world where he comes back and plays. He would need to add some serious numbers to stats but that is a possibility.

Its a bit sad that slot didnt give him more of a chance when Slob was physica and a pressing god...l yet utterly averagr in an attacking sense.

          It is what it is.

Some people write him off at 22.

Van Dijk was written off at 22.

Let get a decent return and hope Wirtz tears it up.

I think it’s a mistake to sell him but we might have to… I think we should try the following.

New contract - tie him down on a good deal. Tell him he’s the man to take over from Salah.

Get him a really good loan at a very good club - even if we have to help fund it.

In 12 months it might be time for Salah to share more minutes and he can phase in as the new right attacker.

I know this has a whiff of championship manager about it but his attachment to LFC might mean it’s a goer.

If we were linked with him, watched his YouTube compilation videos and his performances in the U21's, people on here would be super excited. Strange thing football.

It's not just slot though, Klopp wasn't really convinced either. And he has had opportunities, and he's just done okay. You don't get many chances at a club like ours, and if you don't shine when you do then you try somewhere else. There's plenty of examples of players in his position going on to greatness after such moves, but it's necessary for the clubs. You can't have a first team with 'maybe' players when you have to match or better the results of sovereign wealth funds etc every week. In Harvey's case, I think it's his physical limitations (size, pace, athleticism), that will stop him being a PL great and I think he should be looking to move to a big European side.

He’s a good player but he’s not as good as szobo or wirtz who are his direct competition in his best position.

He’s had a very good u21 tournament but that’s also not the same standard as a very good senior tournament.

One thing to think about is the other side of the game that you can’t always see watching him on TV. Yes he looks good with the ball and can create and score but what about his defensive side.

You can see what players are like with the ball easily on TV or with highlights but you don’t get a full picture of what they do off the ball unless you watch them in person regularly.

Maybe he’s not very disciplined when the team is defending. I’ve seen him chase the ball before and have team mates try and get him to keep his position. It happened in the game against Brighton recently and Dom was screaming at him to bleep his position but he went off chasing the ball and Brighton went straight through the space he left to create an opportunity. Maybe he doesn’t follow the tactical instructions he’s given by the coaches when he plays.

I’m sure I remember when he first started playing in midfield this was one of the criticism of him playing there. He couldn’t press or do the defensive work that players like Henderson, Milner and Gini did in that role and left the team very open in midfield. Maybe he’s just not got the discipline to do that and hasn’t fixed it.

This could also be where his lack of athleticism comes into it. Unfortunately nowadays it’s a much bigger factor than it used to be. We don’t see everything that goes on with him and only see a small part of his game which does look good but can’t compensate for what he can’t do.

Yes it’s sad to see him leave but we won the league where he barely played and now have Wirtz. Despite how much I’d like him to succeed if we sell him and use that money to buy a player Slot rates and likes and plays more that means more rotation, fresher players and we will be a better team for it.

The last world class players I can think of who appeared to be relatively slow were Xabi Alonso and Andrea Pirlo. Both were taller though, not that I can recall either being good at heading. If Harvey can develop his passing and his positional play he could become the next Ever Banega or possibly Juan Mata.

One thing he does have in abundance is end product and that's them most valuable thing in football. He's maybe not as good as Cole Palmer, but I could see him having a similar impact at his next club.

He'll be one of the first names in my FF team.

I didn't realise the amount of appearances he's racked up. I must be letting the fact he's got me a couple of FGS bets up cloud my judgement.

And overall 32 goals and assists in all comps isn't too bad, plus it's more PL goals than Palmer had before joining Chelsea.
