That doesn't make any ****in sense though, why would VAR overruling it be an embarrassment or whatever for the ref, it's exactly why it's there, because we've all seen refs are human and can't do it all perfectly so VAR is there to help.
If anything it now makes her looks worse because she's responsible for a wrong result.

Which is a big issue with the rule. Just let the VAR ref the game and intervene as they wish, they have the best view.
Absolutely agree. The lead ref should be in the studio with the pitch ref just making the simple decisions and relaying the big ones. There's too much money at stake for it not to be like that now.
