I'm not trying to be deliberately contrary, but you went on a similar rant about festivals and events yesterday, and I gave you some context (to which you've not replied - and that's fine).Originally posted by spud_gun View Post
Just because the ownership can take advantage of this scheme doesn't mean they should
So without knowing the full the context for the rationale to the this decision, I'm personally not making a judgement either way. It's really easy to jump to conclusions.Last edited by dom9; 04-04-20, 11:45 PM.Oh I don't know.

You're entire raison d'etre is to be contrary.
Whoop to you for you not rushing to judgement.
And i'd hardly call the post you've quoted 'a rant'

Not at all. And I get that people are more invested in football clubs than other companies, and maybe it is just me but I have no problem with the football club acting as best they can to protect themselves.Originally posted by spud_gun View PostAre you suggesting that people are as invested in other companies as they are in football clubs?
Like I said above while Liverpool are a large football club they are a medium size business in the grand scheme of things. One who has lost a major source of income for the foreseeable future and are using whatever means available to mitigate the risk in uncertain times.

They be a medium sized business but by heck they aren't short of a few quid. The premier league is awash with cash. Some clubs are. Most aren't. Owners will probably want to provide a unified front on this and keep a status quo. Look at their accounts on companies house, what they are doing is wrong and I’m ashamed of our club, they can well afford to pay the wages of ordinary people. We’re do you you think the payment of these furlong payments will come from? Increased taxes from me and you and everyone else who are by no means as wealthy as FSG and LFCOriginally posted by RedAndWhite View PostNot at all. I suspect that the issue is with cash flow and the uncertainty around the remainder of the season. They are still having to pay wages, but have no income, the TV money is on hold, there are no match day revenues and presumably no one is buying merchandise.Originally posted by BobTheCharmer View PostThey be a medium sized business but by heck they aren't short of a few quid. Money raising pre-season tours presumably won't be happening, and if the season is voided they will have to payback a huge amount of TV money that has probably already been spent. We made a profit of £40m or so last year but I imagine that could be eaten into very quickly. The situation doesn't sit particularly will with me either but I hope that the reasoning for doing it is something like the above and that the club will straighten things out once things are sorted. The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.
