Premier League: 'We'll continue with fixtures where safe'
The Premier League has released a statement in relation to the postponement of Manchester United's match against Brighton on Saturday.
It makes interesting reading considering a report earlier today that clubs are pushing for a league-wide shutdown.
"It is with regret that this is the fourth Premier League fixture to have been postponed in the past week," say the Premier League.
"While recognising a number of clubs are experiencing COVID-19 outbreaks, it is the League’s intention to continue its current fixture schedule where safely possible.
"Manchester United continues to have an ongoing COVID-19 outbreak within their squad, which has left them unable to field a team for the match at Old Trafford.
"The Premier League Board assesses applications to postpone matches on a case-by-case basis, based on existing rules and COVID-19 postponement guidance issued to all clubs."What do you mean it could've been anyone? Name me one person who's got a grudge against penguins

An increasing number of Premier League clubs want fixtures suspended until 2022 report ESPN.
"Premier League chiefs have been informed that with rising case numbers being fuelled by the omicron variant, there would be support for suspending games until the weekend of 8-9 January, when FA Cup third-round ties are due to take place," they write.
"Under the proposal, Premier League games would restart on 15 January.
"Officially, the Premier League is still considering postponements on a case-by-case basis. The Premier League did not immediately respond to a request for comment when asked about plans for a shutdown by ESPN."

Would be great if Spurs game did go ahead even if other teams cancelled. Means fewer games in the second half of the season as other teams struggle to cram them in. Particularly the likes of Chelsea and Citeh who will likely have CL runs to contend with too.Football without Origi is nothing
