Delay AFCON for 12 months like the EurosOriginally posted by labourRed View PostI think the PL said they will carry on as long as clubs can fulfil them but when does it become untenable. When spurs have another 5 fixtures to fulfil. I think there'll be a break as well, and I can't see the AFCON going ahead either.

Then you’ve got 2 AFCONS in the space of 6 months, there’s an AFCON 2023 in the summer of that year!Originally posted by Bloodraven View PostDelay AFCON for 12 months like the Euros
This AFCON has already been delayed 6th months. Just cancel it with the next one so close now..

The context could also be flipped the other way as well.
Let’s not play the World Cup (or any competition interfering) and play AFCON instead? Are we winning?

I was thinking earlier today this had a bit of a feel of the Atletico Madrid game before the first lockdown and was thinking we might just squeeze this in before the league stop games. I think they might be reluctant to stop it for such a busy period but you feel that with PL case no's as they are we can't be far from some kind of tipping point...The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

I thought that it was up to the 2 clubs involved to find a suitable date for postponed fixtures and there had to be a mutual agreement, as there is still a decent bit of the season left I would imagine that we could just not agree to reschedule any games in that time (it would be different if it were April and we couldn't find a free slot. Not sure what the procedure would be if it's whole rounds of fixture though...Originally posted by spud_gun View PostA 'festive firebreak' coupled with AFCON going ahead will double **** us.
I'm presuming the games missed over the festive period will be made up during the month of January.....when AFCON is taking place
We may be missing Mo, Mane and Naby for more than 2 league games if this does happenThe only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Apparently Spurs / Rennes couldn't agree on a date to re-arrange their postponed game between now and the next round of the Europa League starting in Feb.
The schedule this season and next is so tight because of that monstrosity in Qatar. There appears to be literally no wiggle room, especially for those clubs taking part in European competition.
I suspect we're going to see Man U / Spurs go through a couple of crazy spells of playing 3 games in 6 days / 4 games in 9 days in order to make the League games they've missed up
