Pep definitely won the tactical battle with Klopp yesterday (again that doesnt normally happen). It was clear that moving Sterling to the right was a big move and then not really playing anyone up against Robbo worked. I agreed with a lot of what Pep said, when we hgave beaten them in the past it has not been that City have exactly been playing shiite, we have beaten them when they have been at their best. We are the toughest team he has ever played against, his words, that is quite a compliment.
Robbo has set the tone in these clashes a few times with resounding victories against which ever winger he faced, setting tone and tempo with some big tackles and physical victories whilst driving forward with Sadio. Foden played in field and that seemed to throw us. We never really came to terms with it.
There was a good doc on Peps Barca after the game, we can dismiss Pep all we want, but he is clearly an exceptional coach. If he gets money that is one thing, but he gets results also, and teams playing amazing football. Lots of coaches have been given money and delivered absolutely nothing.
We have morphed our style this season to give away less, and it has been really successful. But I'd imagine Klopp and Pep (Ljinders) will be working on some tweaks for next season.
That said we created quite a lot and if we'd scored at least once we may have seen a different game.Modifying post.

The question about whether we had good chances seemed to kick it off, but it's a totally reasonable question, it's a set up for him to talk about how we created chances but didn't take them. The after match interview isn't a conversation between interviewer and interviewee, it's the process of creating a 10 second clip that encapsulates Klopp's view of what happened for use in a TV match report or social media clip. Turning the question back onto the interviewer makes no sense. Big difference between showing that you're unhappy/annoyed and being tetchy.Originally posted by Buzzo View Post
It was excellent to see. Klopp was not happy and he let it show. Thats fine. Exactly the sort of reaction I wanted to see. Watch the BBC interviews which were most likely a bit later where he makes the same points but with more control. He's a passionate guy. Shreeves was driving at a point but not making it.
If he was all, 'you know what, **** it, who won the League' that's when you worry.
It's like how you find numerous different ways to express yourself with a pithy, dismissive one liner and take private delight in going against the flow thats fine also

It was ludicrous. Salah hadn't even got on the pitch before half of them walked off. It's the kind of things their fans will lap up, as would ours if it was reversed, but it made a mockery of the custom. Sure, it's bit of a pointless custom, but there's no need to decide that unilaterally.Originally posted by Tee View PostThat guard of honour was just pure disrespect. Sure. Doesn't mean it was a bit cringe worthy though.Originally posted by McDermotX View PostLike all great winners, Klopp doesn't like to lose.
Nothing wrong with that at all. You find it in all the greats.

Possibly, but its only a news story until the next one comes along (if it even is one right now - haven't been near Sky today), and you can probably count on one hand the amount of times a manager has made sense in the after match.
Disappointment with his team was probably Klopp's overriding emotion and Shreeves got in the way. It'll be forgotten very quickly."I will make the boys feel your support"

I think being tetchy is a by product of being unhappy. You don't really associate happy and tetchy ever. He always says if the team lose it is his fault, I'd imagine being out smarted in a few tactical areas was biting.Originally posted by Kenneth View PostThe question about whether we had good chances seemed to kick it off, but it's a totally reasonable question, it's a set up for him to talk about how we created chances but didn't take them. I know Klopp won't like to admit it but last night the players weren't on it 100% if the title hadn't been wrapped up it would have been a different story. Lets try and take the positives out of it, last night meant nothing City closed the gap to 20 points, we already have the title as I said before the match they were super up for it we weren't. We got a bit of a hiding there's no getting away from that, hopefully that will serve as a reminder that next year is going to be more difficult and we can't afford to let up and give anything less than 100%. It gives Klopp an opportunity to look at players whose attitude might have changed now that they are PL winners they might think they have 'made it' or whatever and Klopp has the rest of the season to get that attitude out of them without it affecting games next season. The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

I can imagine that if roles were reversed and City came to Anfield having just won the League we would be pumped up to give them a kicking and they would be a bit flat. I choose not to see any relevance to a game played in such bizarre circumstances. We know City will be right up there next season - but will they be consistent enough? And will we? Who knows? I think we should focus on us, not them. I guess I worry a little about what the loss of our fans might to us do in the long run... City are a beautiful piece of art shown in a silent gallery; we are massive ****ing stack of Marshall speakers turned up...to 11....and that needs a crowd.
