Chelsea vs Liverpool - Premier League (20/21 - Game 2)

    UK:
    Sunday 20th September at 4:30pm
Live on Sky Sports Premier League

    Australia:
Perth Time: 20th September at 11:30pm
QLD Time: 21st September at 1:30am
    NSW/VIC: 21st September at 1:30am
    Live on Optus Sports

    -------------------

    This is it!

After a nervy win against an admittedly impressive Leeds Utd, we travel to Stamford Bridge to play the heavily invested Chelsea.

Can we take advantage of their lack of playing time together? Will Werner make us rue our decision to not sign him or will Salah get the last laugh?

Didn't watch it last night but heard the score flattered them. Arguably the best time to play them given they haven’t clicked yet - Salah and Mane will relish the space behind Chilwell and James + Havertz wide right was like Bobby being played there for us when he arrived.....

I hate these ****ers now, especially Frank. Hope we batter them 7-0 and he gets the sack

Got a feeling this will be a bit of a nervy game for both sides... neither playing particularly well in the first outing and Chavs with a lot of new faces to bed in. Our defence and keeper need to rediscover their form too or this could be a similar game to the Leeds one - end to end and gaps everywhere!

Thought they were very average last night, feeling much more upbeat about it now.
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

They were decent but yeah less dynamic than I was expecting. I think Pulisic is a big miss for them. Will he still be unavailable against us?

Havertz was incredibly quiet and poor for them, while I thought Werner did pretty well.

I do fancy us to win this one, their defence is pretty dodgy still, so is ours but less so. Their attack is pretty good, but ours is better.

There's also no real home advantage at the moment either, so that helps.

For me if Salah has another big game then this could end up being his best goalscoring season since his mental opening season performance. He just needs a run of goals and he'll be unstoppable.

They're going to take some time to gel. Look at how long Klopp takes to fully integrate players into our team.

Good time to be playing them away.

Pulisic is back in training but last night was too soon for him.
Think Chilwell might also be in contention for our game too.

Kepa wasn't that special either. Lovely jubbly!

Chelsea will be much better on Sunday. I also think Werner (and to a lesser extent) Havertz will have a point to prove.
                          Another MASSIVE game

I have no doubts that both us and Chelsea will be better on Sunday than in the initial games. Honestly I just don't see how we could play any worse, even then we have had 22 shots on goal and made silly errors for their goals 3 shots on target and 3 goals. Trent and Hendo will be fitter, Gini will never play a worse game, Mane was the quietest he's ever been and VVD was complacent. They are huge players for us or any team and I just can't see them playing anywhere as poorly. I certainly hope not anyways.

My concerns with us are Gomez & Firmino. Gomez has just too many errors in him, imo Matip should start over him every time if he is fit... the problem is him being fit. He is more composed than Gomez and aerially their in no comparison, Joe's pace is what stops him from being punished for his poor positioning and mental lapses. Bobby, well people have been making excuses for him all last season. IMO he is a superb player that has under performed in the last year or so, with his talent he should be and needs to score more goals. I know he is not a conventional CF and drops etc etc but his finishing has to be better. Personally I think lack of competition is an issue with him. Now he is capable of banging in a goal vs Chelsea and make this comment look foolish but over the course of the season he needs to get back to previous levels and that front 3 will be unplayable.

As regards Chelsea, they have a superb team on paper but will need time to gel. Pulisic might be back in the squad but I doubt he'll start and even if he does his match fitness will be down. Even if Chiwell, Ziyech and Silva somehow manage to bit in the squad, they are all not match fit. If we play the way we can we should beat them but we have definitely dropped a level since winning the prem. Chelsea and Arsenal back to back is a tough start but beat the two of them and lay a marker down. Both Chelsea and Arsenal are capable of taking points from us or any team if they play to their best and I do think both will be much stronger this season. Maybe playing Chelsea away this early is a good thing before they get time to gel, same goes with Arsenal.
