Can't you get him interested in the football? Then it would be medicinal and therapeutic for you and him to watch it together.

He likes footy but wants to go out / her meal etc understandably. Baltic bride-to-be would never agree to coming over to go somewhere to watch footy. Ultimately it’s a sacrifice but much as I adore LFC, there ain’t a real choice. It’s not forever - he’s given up immeasurably more for me in his time. 86 in a fortnight too!
